As I understand it, the chemistry of NiMH differs from regular alkaline, and is by nature limited to 1.2volt. Unless they discover a way to combine this LSD technology with a different rechargable battery composition, it'll always be 1.2v.

Also, I understand that regular alkaline start out at 1.5v, but fairly quickly diminish in voltage to the 1.2-1.3 range. Sorry I don't have a link to validate what I'm relaying here, but check it out!

Keep in mind these aren't slow drain that can hold a charge for years. You can have high capacity or slow charge but not both unfortunately.
