Yeah, that's how it has worked in the past. You can pay to have H&R Block file your state return or you can print it and mail it in yourself.

Which h&r would be best for some one with a corporate job who does real estate on the side with a brokerage and owns a home? Would want to write off mileage, phone bill etc. ..

I got the $22 one, its good enough although it will go down to $15 and so on later but who cares.

It is a lot more expensive than the ISO thread since the ISO thread include FREE State e-file which cost extra $19.95 with this deal.

So the ISO thread, if you able to get the FREE key code, you get both Deluxe+State+free efile for Fed+State.

Or if you pick the worst price option from that thread, it is still $19.95 that include Deluxe+State+free efile for Fed+State.

Good enough, while I'm sure I could play around with the ISO and get it working, I actually think that paying for software (some) is a good idea so that the company continues to make it, because I want it every year.

I normally use their online software, which is $29.95 for deluxe, would buying the 'physical' software allow me to just use the online tool, or are they 2 totally separate things?

All I was doing is pointing out that the 95 cent deal could be had with 3 simple steps. It is perfectly fine if you do not want to waste time doing the 3 steps and do not want to "risk" downoading a file from an unknown source. Nobody is holding a gun to your heads.

As to discussing, that would be OT on this thread as the risks and the rest of the topics under the sun related to IT and downloading were already beat to death several times over in the said thread. By the time I replied, someone had already linked that thread. Why re-discuss the same crap here and clutter this thread which I do agree is simple but at a cost.

I haven't loaded it up yet, but everything on the packaging says FREE. Also states - Offer good Thru 2/11/13.
Anybody know what's up with this?

Again, looks like this deal doesn't include Free state e-file(?), so the different will be $22 Deluxe+State + $20 State e-file which is $42 compare to the other deal. The price different is not just $20 assuming you want the products offer in the other thread. If you don't need State, then this deal has more option.
