30 day postmark question

Frys FAR purchase software mistake. Should have checked this forum first, would not have done it. Bought Avanquest Driver Genius on 12.4.12 because it was on sale as FAR. Now I realize the following offer is a scam:

"Get a $15.00 Rebate When You Purchase Driver Genius at Fry's,Frys.com
between 11/21/2012 and 12/6/2012. REDEEM THIS REBATE ONLINE AND GET YOUR REBATE FASTER! Just go to webate.avanquestusa.com and enter rebate code 1555F11211215."

Once you fill out the online info, they still require the 30 day purchase deadline paperwork!

When Avanquest software states a rebate "Request must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase", which 30 days are they counting exactly? Example: I buy a product on a Tuesday, 12.4.12, at 8 pm. Would it have to be postmarked by 1.2.13, even though the post office was closed by the time I purchased it? Do those 30 days include sundays and holidays when the PO isnt open. I know this is a ridiculous question, but if my rebate gets rejected because it's postmarked 3 days past the 30 day cut off, I call BS! Any suggestions?

I do not know what are you talking about. My Rebate form says: 12/19/12-1/3/13 (see attachment). I have no idea how reliable is this company but rebate form is valid for my purchase.

1555F11211215 is the rebate sdnatv is referring to not
1155F12191215 that you are referring to.

30 days is 30 days not 30 days the post office is open, etc.. Some rebate processors include the date of purchase as one of the 30 days others do not.

I have no doubt that this rebate processor will immediately reject the rebate based solely on the postmark. They have a terrible reputation within the fatwallet forums and an "F" rating with the LA county BBB. I'm hoping Fry's will extend the 30 day return policy since the box is unopened and the software isn't Windows 8 compatible. The manufacturer has a 90 day money back guarantee listed on the box, but there are 34 detailed complaints listed on the LA BBB website from the last 12 months, most of which revolve around the refusal to honor refunds/rebates. Anyone have any advise?

The OP's point was that the post office was closed at the time the OP purchased the item so if the 30 day count started on the purchase date it was not fair to the OP as it was impossible for the OP to mail on that day.

If you purchase online, the 30 days period should begin running on the day you receive the software in the mail, so that its 30 day requirement is the same for B&M or online purchases. How would Avanquest know what day you received the software? It may not matter, anyway, given Avanquest poor rebate payment performance.
