No experience here with Remora. I've spent plenty of money on Henry Holsters, Raven Concealment, Crossbread and other high dollar holsters. What makes these worthwhile?

As a firearms instructor I would not recommend a Remora or ANY holster of that style. As a BELT holster they are terrible and potentially dangerous. Anyone recommending them as a belt carry option has no clue about how important consistent angle and gun position are to a fast draw, and probably hasn't been carrying long enough to be concerned about a gun falling out of your pants in public.

Retention is incredibly poor, imagine playing with your kids and your gun falling out onto the floor. Consistent grip angle and gun position are critical to a fast draw from concealment, these do not allow for that. These holsters are also horrible for re-holstering. Most schools won't even allow you to use them during a class.

You cannot develop a fast draw without having a holster that's easy to re-holster back into. A flimsy holster like the Remora is going to flatten out every time you draw, making re-holstering difficult. What we typically see is the sort of customer that would buy that product probably isn't trained in how to draw, has never taken a class where drawing a loaded gun was required, has never actually drawn a loaded gun from a holster at any speed other than "dog slow", if at all, but believes that he or she is "well prepared" for a gunfight nonetheless.

You spent a good amount of money to buy your pistol, don't buy a crap holster. Spend a little extra for a good holster from Comp-Tac, Bladetech, Raven Concealment, or another reputable company. Then go take some classes from your local firearms school.

Agree with all comments about characteristics of a good holster and I wouldn't recommend a Remora as a first holster for an inexperienced user, but you should do more homework before calling a product "potentially dangerous". I own two Remoras - neither is for primary carry, but they're just fine for shorter trips, provided you have a good belt and a decent concealment garment. Retention is good enough, trigger is well-covered, my reinforced-top models allow re-holstering, my draw is not significantly slower than with any other IWB I use, and gun position remains relatively constant. I wouldn't use it for a CQB class but it's a good quality product and has a solid place in my holster collection. And if you're playing with your kids and wearing any low retention IWB holster without a cover garment, you need your head examined.

Anyone who thinks a Remora is an appropriate CCW decision probably shouldn't be carrying in the first place. What a horrible - HORRIBLE - concept. Your firearm is not secure in a Remora. Period.

CompTac, Garrett Industries, Galco, DeSantis...there are too many real, quality holsters out there to waste your money on this crap.
