there has been many posts about connecting different sources, here is a short breakdown on how 99% of these htib work...
you can NOT hook up devices such as a Wii to the unit itself because most do not have a hdmi/component in.
but
you CAN use it for audio one of 3 ways...
ARC via HDMI if your tv has ARC
SPDIF (optical typically) from the tv > unit
RCA Composite RED & Wht inputs - analog
the main benefit (imo) of having a unit with multi/extra ins is that you can run 1 cable to the tv and be done with it
most of these htib however you still need to hook everything up directly to the tv and then the unit gets the audio signal from the tv instead of the wii/ps3/bluray directly

There is a good chance they will match the price anyways... It's just a hunch but several of the Best Buy deals I've posted and listed Amazon's price as a reference - they ended up matching it. Either later in the day or the next day. I don't know if they monitor SD or not  ...This is just a hunch and I wouldn't necessarily count on this happening.

Darn. Got $80 of Best Buy credit, but this only has one HDMI port. I need something I can hook up at least 3 pieces of kit to. Have a feeling I need a receiver and speaker set.

Does anyone know how many things can be connected to this?
Are there enough inputs to plug my TV, 360, and Wii into this to get the sound to come out of the surround sound speakers? It looks like this would replace my existing bluray player too, correct? |

Most likely you need a receiver package Most of these htib units do not support anything other then what's built in See below on how you can use it for sound still but need to run multi cables to the tv itself
Then you run an optical Cable from the tv out to this unit and based on what source you have selected hear audio from that source But you can not hook everything up to this unit and run 1 cable to the tv Last edited by dmband; 01-06-2013 at 09:00 AM.. |

Meritline and a few other sites sell a source-sensing 3 to 1 HDMI switch for $15-$20. I actually prefer those as they sense which port is active and automatically switch, or you can just press a button or use the wireless remote.
