I really want to hear one of these home theater in a box systems. I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard one. Obviously they wouldn't sound as good as my higher end system but I'm curious to hear one to evaluate the cost to benefit ratio of these compared to higher end systems.

for $200, this will blow you away while watching movies or playing Xbox etc. expect the quality of any other HTIB, whether it's samsung or panassonic. if you are a hardcore audiophile then HTIB is not the way to go - just get a receiver and buy the speakers separately.
i have a samsung one, which had built-in wifi and for another $49 i could purchase the wireless rear receiver for the speakers. not sure about the panassonic one i have a samsung one. it was perfect for my 900 sq ft apartment a few years ago in my family room in my house now, it's still decent but there would be a significant benefit for having more powerful speakers for $200, you will be blown away Last edited by Medic311; 01-06-2013 at 10:40 AM.. What you want is an HTPC; PC capable of playing back HD media. They will be much more expensive, since you will need a separate Blu-ray drive and a playback software (~$100) and amplifier + speakers. |

NM found it, if your tv supports it and you have HDMI 1.3 cables you are good to go. From the panny website: How do I use the ARC feature with this system? "ARC" is an abbreviation for Audio Return Channel. To use this feature the HDMI cable you are using must be compliant to HDMI v1.3 spec or later. Older cables may not work correctly. VIERA Link can work with either the HDMI-ARC feature of a compatible TV. For ARC usage make sure that the systems HDMI ARC port is connected to the TVs ARC port. 1. Press [HOME]. 2. Select "Others" icon and press [OK]. 3. Select "Setup" and press [OK]. 4. Select "Audio" and press [OK]. 5. Select "TV Audio Input" and press [OK]. Then select the "ARC" option. Afterwards the TV's ARC feature will control the home theater system and the sound from the TV will be heard through the systems speakers |

I don't need the BD player, but would I be able to connect my Xbox and PS3 simultaneously?
If you refer to your husband/wife as 'DH/DW', you're too old to be active on a forum.
If you ask for marriage advice on a(ny) forum, you should seriously reevaluate your life. If you don't know the difference between 'their', 'there', and 'they're', I automatically assume you have a mental disability (same goes for to/two/too and your/you're/yore). |
