Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 Tablet, 9 Inch, JellyBean, 16 GB $230 Shipped At Office Depot

These tablets seem like such a great value. Large screen, expandable storage, quad core, etc. Is there any reason why they don't get more hype? They seem like a much better deal than the Nexus tablets. I'm kind of a novice when it comes to tablets though, so I honestly don't know.

There are some really nasty reviews regarding its cheap display. Here's a less hate filled review [slashgear.com].

If you don't mind the display, this would be a good buy.

I dont have any experience with this specific model, but i had a previous lenovo (k1) tablet. Was really nice, great build, ran well.... until i updated it the second day i had it... then it kepts crashing... keyboard would randomly type... looked online and apparently lenovo had very little support for that tablet. I had to return because it wasnt functional and rooting it suckd because there were very few roms out there. This model however, I am not sure about the support from lenovo or XDA, so I am not sure.

Pros: Compact tablet with decent display after upgrading to JellyBean. Fast processor making installs lightning fast. Also you are able to update to JellyBean out of the box. Decent pre-loaded apps with minimal upgrading. No hangups when using tablet. No major roadblocks at this time.

Cons: Display out of the box forces you to hold tablet at an angle. You have to agree to lenovo ToS at first power on, so if you wish to root you will lose customer support/warranty.

Other Thoughts: As soon as you power on the tablet go to Settings > About Tablet > System Updates and run the download for 4.1.1. Videos run smooth on YouTube and even though I have high speed internet, I'm getting 22mbps down and 20mbps up over wireless.

just bought the tablet last week and couldn't be happier. this price isnt as competitive as the 210 newegg deal posted earlier this week with zero tax, but his is the best price today. the screen on the tablet is a little washed out at different angles but for the price, this tablet is the best out there at this size. i have an acer a500 too and this lenovo is so much faster, zero lag when you type, etc. now i just need a slick deal on an microsd card.

The Lenovo has a quad core CPU and the Acer only has a dual and the Lenovo had HDMI out.

The Acer is a bit bigger too if that matters.

confirmed, yes comes with 4.0, you can update to 4.1 immediately. im doing it now, had no idea until your post, will rep you! i was expecting lenovo to not post an upgrade but so happy they are keeping pace. more the reason to buy this tablet.
