In addition to what nyankana said, they aren't charging tax EVERYWHERE, even if they're charging it where YOU live. And even if they did, those who have Amazon Visa cards get 3% back which would knock out some of the tax.

compared to B&h?

none. infact, if you are in NY, you have the added benefit of returning to the brick&mortar store.

Thanks I rep you! Smilie

Now that I think about it you are right. Dec of 2011 after the Thai floods I paid $99 for 2TB Seagate external hard drive. If you break down the price per megabyte this drive is actually more expensive and it's only 1GB. I have not been paying attention to hard drive price. Have they finally come down since the floods? I don't know what is a good price anymore. ConfusedConfused

Was it a portable drive? This is the one that requires no external power source and it's 2.5" drive. I don't think they even had 2TB 2.5" external drives in Dec 2011, but could be wrong. I paid $80 for this same drive around Black Friday 2012. Now I am kicking myself...

Coming from USB 2.0, definitely. Of course, transfer speeds depend on the actual hardware you're using. But on average I get anywhere from 80mb/s to 95mb/s with Asus Turbo Boost on, whereas USB 2.0 would only give me 35mb/s.

Ya it was portable but it was 3.5" drive. I did not know this was 2.5" but it doesn't really matter the size. Just that it is big and it works.
