I have one of these, potato bread + american sliced cheese + tomatoes + boiled ground meat sausage = very tasty. If I didn't have one for FAR seems like a very good deal.

1) doesnt make sandhiches like we are used to. It doesn't bond the bread pieces
2) it oozes out stuff more than it keeps in. Half of all the Stuffing\filling\cheese use to spill out of the maker leaving behind a great mess. It actually takes me more time cleaning the damn thing than making or eating my meal

Yes, because all sandwich makers have that magic "bread bonding" power.

They also have a magic button that says, "cheese, don't melt with heat, please stay in the sandwich."

Whether in a pan or on a sandwich maker, cheese is going to ooze everywhere. It wouldn't be a good grilled cheese or "melt" if it didn't.

Considering there's only 2 reviews on this model, which really aren't very informative... I don't see how you could go wrong for a couple of bucks. Worse case scenario it's a POS and you can donate to goodwill or a homeless shelter.

Decent machines can bond the bread at the edges, duh, that's the point of using the machine instead of just using a skillet on the stove to heat it up. Don't cook much do we?

Worst case scenario is that it is a POS and you don't get the rebate, so you are out the initial cost plus the stamp and your time. Why gamble on a POS when there will be a better deal in the future?

Well, judging by the amount of 2 and 3 star average reviews on sandwich makers on Amazon... I'd say the majority don't please everyone, except for maybe this one, but it's more than double the cost. (LINK [amazon.com]).

Yes, a good model would sear/bond the edges, but that's as much about how hot it gets and the design of the top press. I know you're a master chef, so you clearly know more than me... smartass. I'm Italian, so I would say I cook a bit.

And as for your standard "but what if we never get the rebate" justification... 4MyRebate has been pretty damn reliable IMO. I've gotten 100% of my rebates back from them... and I do hundreds per year so I really wouldn't classify it as a "gamble" as long as you follow the instructions. The typical turn around time is within 4 to 6 weeks.
