ReRAM based on memristor will be the successor to SSDs. I just took a semester-long course on this subject, and prototypes are already out. HP and Hynix are working together to make a commercially available version by the end of 2013. Your business/investor friends may be telling you to dump HP, but some of us in the CEG department are buying HP stock

It's probably the non sandforce type making it 256GB and also slower.

After reading some review it appears the IOPS (whatever that is) is laughably slow on this SSD (2,000 as opposed to 25,000 for Extreme) and this price is pretty close to regular every day price. I got the impression though, that it performs slower because Sandisk was trying to lower the energy consumption and perhaps heat generation? Maybe they were targeting the laptop market?

but there's such a huge difference between 128GB and 256GB and so many people on that thread complaining about performance issues until they downloaded the latest firmware update and even then, ppl complain about their drives just dying. I'd rather have a slower drive that is more reliable than a screamer that has problems.

FYI this is the model that's slower than the Extreme and Ultra Series.

It only has ~2200 IOPS for Random 4K Write, compared to the Extreme's ~83000 IOPS.

I think this uses Sandforce controller
