even with the 450 fee, the 100k points are worth at least $1,000 -- possibly much more if you transfer to partner airway reward programs. There are many other benefits to go along with the card, but even if you just want the bonus, it's worth paying $450 for one year then canceling. How many other sign up bonuses will net you $550?

Too bad United/Continental is no longer in the Membership Rewards Program.

This is a FANTASTIC offer. Usually, it is only 50k points at best!

I had my card for 5 months now and this is what I have used so far. Easily got $450/year back using these benefits.

-$200 Airline increment fee reimbursed.
-Unlimited airport lounge access on US Airways, Delta, AA with Platinum card.
-AMEX pays for Priority Select, which gives you access to over 500 lounges world wide, for main card holder and if you can get 3 extra cards for $175, and AMEX pays for those 3 as well.
-Book your hotel with Platinum card and it gives you early check in, late check out as late as 4 pm, usually free continental breakfast for 2.
-Free concierge service. I've used to locate iPhone 5 when it was so hard to find, and they called 30 places nearby my house and found one.
-90 days Purchase protection. Any purchase you made within 90 days can be reimbursed for any reason. Theft, damaged, defective, etc...

These are the main benefits I use it for. Absolutely worth $450 a year. If you get priority select, they give you 5 year membership, so even you cancel after the first year, you are left with extra 4 years of Priority Select.
