Official page works again laugh out loud http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html
Same info as before too LMAO

Please post any install issues / tips here...thanks

To update the programs once installed: Change system date to before 10/01/2011, run Adobe updater, download/install updates, then change system date back to current

Adobe official statement, sounds like they pretend nothing has happened.

"Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.

Please see http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2013/01/update-on-cs2-and-acrobat-7-activation-servers.html for additional information.

ON THE OTHER HAND
Later in that same thread, another Adobe staffer said this:

I don't think you have to worry about Adobe coming after you for this, union_bug.

As soon as our execs have approved an official statement on this issue, I or another Adobe staffer will post it here.

Windows 8 Compatibility Issues: If your computer is running Windows 8 and you're having trouble installing CS2 you may want to try downloading a program called VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) from Oracle (it's free). This software is designed to allow you to run Windows XP programs in a virtual environment on a Windows 7 machine but apparently it also works with Windows 8.

More info here: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/12/windows-xp-on-windows-8-for-free/

Try this link for the actual walkthrough described in the Ubegizmo web site - http://lifehacker.com/5965889/how...-windows-8. The instructions worked for me and I could do the XP and Photoshop install.

If you are having the error message, "Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit". During installation put c:\progra~2\adobe instead of c:\program files\adobe. This worked for me for both Vista, Windows 7 & Windows. Hope it helps you!

I've ran this since its release on windows vista and 7 both 32 and 64 bit machines without issues and did not use any compatibility modes.

Also, if you're running Windows 8 Pro (x64 version), you can use Hyper-V, the virtualization engine built native into Windows: http://winsupersite.com/article/windows8/windows-8-feature-focus-client-hyperv-142889 Still need to get your hands on an XP image (if that's what you want).

Mac OSX 10.8: Tries to install and fails. Not sure about prior Mac OSX versions. (note: you need to use a MacOs that can run the powerpc emulator Rosetta. Mountain Lion won't work, since Apple dropped the emulation). However, standalone Acrobat Pro 8 does work in Mountain Lion because it includes the Intel binaries.

Don't forget about bugmenot.com http://www.bugmenot.com/view/adobe.com
Having trouble? try Chrome

I only grabbed a copy of the CS2 Photoshop installer instead of the whole suite. It installed fine in Win 7 (via Run As > Admin) and never asked for a serial.

If you have a "Disk 2 error" installing the Suite - clearpants
Quote from clearpants View Post :
Those of you having problems with the Disc 2 error. How to fix it:

*Note This is for those who are extracting to the default directories.

1. Run/extract Disc 2, Disc 3, and Extras first
2. For some reason Disc 2 extracts to C:\Creative Suite instead of C:\Creative Suite CS2 like Disc 1 and 3 do.
3. Copy the contents of C:\Creative Suite to C:\Creative Suite CS2
4. Run the Disc 1 installer/extractor.

If you chose your own directory for discs 1-3 to extract to then you probably shouldn't encounter the can't find disc 2 error.
If you're trying to install in Windows x64 bit and you get "Error: the path you select for installation contains unsupported characters. Please choose a different folder for installation." - zero2dash
Adobe's fix for this is here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-path-contains-unsupported-characters.html
Quote :
Solution 2: Edit the installation path.
Edit the installation path, and then install the application files to that folder.

In the installer wizard, type [X]:\Progra~2\Adobe for the installation path. Your Adobe Creative Suite applications will be installed to Program Files (x86)\Adobe.
Resume the installation.
The reason being: Progra~2 would be the short path name (seen by doing a dir /x in a command prompt).
I can verify that this does work and it's now installing in my VM. Wink

(2) Acrobat 8 Professional quirks to be aware of - zero2dash
1) You need to right-click and "run as administrator" in Win7 because it will not trigger the UAC prompt on it's own and you'll get an error when extracting.
2) If you're running x64 bit, when it asks for "Files Needed" box when it looks for the AdobePDF.dll file....click Browse, and then use the "Up one level" folder and it's in AMD64\ADOBEPDF.DLL Wink

3) If on windows 7 and you get an error that you donot have permissions to the common files directory use the methos outlined to take ownership of the directory and give permissions to your login id - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-s...main_Vista

Download now, save keys, see what happens when you get the chance to install. The URL seems to indicate that this is a promotion tied to ColdFusion, but I don't know anything beyond that. I still believe these are universal keys, so if they find that this spreads far beyond the intended recipients, they may choose to revoke the keys.
It's not a promotion. It's EOL. CS2 is End of Life so the activation servers have been shut down. Thus these version don't require activation servers. It's meant to keep the people who alread had CS2 up and running.

Link still live on my end, too. I would absolutely recommend downloading the CS2 discs, even if you have no plans to actually use all the programs (you can select what to install). I don't see these files being available for too long.
Oh, I get it. You have to be signed in first before the page comes up.

I think he means the version of those programs are end of life. Like Windows 95/98, etc already end of life while Windows 7 is still supported.

Works fine on Windows 8 but it throws the program icons onto the Metro desktop.
Install was annoying because it wouldn't install past disc 2 - found the extracted files were in two separate folders - fixed it by taking the contents of one adobe cs folder - copied and pasted into the folder that contained the setup.exe file.

I imagine you are right, I thought people would still be buying prior versions of this stuff though. Even if its outdated... I could still use basic photoshop stuff for free. Its really interesting to me because I was thinking about buying Elements a bit ago.

Can you imagine doing this in the days of dial up?

I remember a 5mb file would take around 15-25 minutes to download lol

This came out in April of 2005 and won't work on any operating system of the last few years, but if you have an old PC still running XP with a relatively powerful CPU then this is a great deal!

No Vista/7/8 or Mac OS 10.4+ supported. Thanks OP

Seriously? Have you not heard of "Virtualization"? Look for VMWare or Microsofts free VM called Virtual PC - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc .

They even came out with a free visualized version of Windows XP. LINKIE: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/...nload.aspx

Please shower me with points of this helps you. I could also use a really good job in the tech field.
