This monitor is wide gamut capable. It also has an effective sRGB mode.
Wide gamut panels cost more. It's a fact of life. If you don't like it, buy a cheap standard gamut LED panel (some of which don't even cover the full small sRGB color space).
This also is not a 1080p screen. Paying a bit extra for the extra pixels is worth it to some people.
This has a high-end IPS panel so viewing angles are wide, although there is no polarizer.
The CCFL backlighting means PWM flicker is not a problem as it can be with LED backlights.
It has true 8-bit color processing and a LUT.
It has a matte coating. Matte coatings cost more to produce than glossy screens.
It has a highly adjustable stand. Cheap monitors come with tilt stands only.
The main drawback of this panel is that its calibrated contrast ratio is on the low side.

$400 is a slick deal for a 24" monitor? Honestly the microcenter or monoprice 27" ones are much better unless you are short on USB somehow or really need component for a computer monitor...

While this is a good price for a 24" 1920x1200 monitor, monitors of this size and resolution are a bit overpriced relative to the other options. A 23" 1920x1080 UltraSharp monitor costs SIGNIFICANTLY less while the 27" U2711 is significantly more, I still think its a better value than the 24" UltraSharp.

Every single thread on high end IPS monitors, someone always chimes in "My 1080p 27" Acer costs half that". As mentioned, if you don't know why this monitor costs this much, you probably don't need or won't appreciate it. I paid slightly more for mine a year ago and it's worth every penny.

Enough said. This isn't for you if you find it expensive. I paid $600 2 years ago for it. This monitor is for graphic designers/web designers. Great price, tempted to buy 2 to have Eyefiniti.... |
