Deal Details

Paul's TV has the entire Mitsubishi Diamond Series at the cheapest they've ever been to my knowledge. These are the 842 series, the highest end non-laser DLP series Rear Projection Televisions that Mitsubishi manufactures - this year's models. These are cheaper than Black Friday / Cyber Monday! Excellent bundles are available as well!

All TVs come with FREE White Glove Delivery - They will bring in your product, unpackage and set your TV where you want it, plug it in, power it on and allow for you to examine everything to ensure everything is functional and unharmed.

The Innovex stands are glass panel shelves with metal frame - they fit the TVs seamlessly and look very nice with them (I have the WD-73842 with the Innovex Black 65). They are simple to assemble and offer a simple, yet classy / progressive look with a good amount of storage).

BEFORE ANYONE DISSES THIS DEAL:

Yes, these are DLP Rear Projection Televisions. They are, however, the highest end non-laser DLP offered by Mitsubishi, being fully ISFccc compliant (complete set of calibration settings), having better black levels (not listed, but I dare you to compare to the 742 series or below), built in FULL HD 3D glasses emitter (and DLP Link), 16 speaker surround sound bar, etc... As stated above, I currently have the WD-73842, and I have several friends with decent sized LED LCD Televisions envious of the picture quality AND size of this television (I currently use pretty much fresh out of the box settings, just tweaked tint so far). Viewing angle is non-issue for us - we can comfortably see the image from as much as 70 degrees off axis in each direction (maybe more, but we don't really have reason to test that).

Yes - Mitsubishi is leaving the consumer television market, however replacement parts will still be available through them and through authorized resellers (aftermarket replacement parts are available as well).

Yes - you have to replace the lamp every few years... It's $99 new for a OEM product that brings the picture back to "like new" when replaced. I've seen aftermarket lamps for $49... I'd prefer OEM personally, however the options do exist.

Anyhow, on to the info!!

All of these come with $250 in gift cards broken down as follows:

$50 - Royal Crown Watches
$25 - The Sunglass Store
$25 - Zunki
$25 - Pro Football Fan Gear
$25 - Pots & Pans Plus
$25 - Rock Canyon Leather
$25 - iGadget Mall
$50 - Studio 21 Jewelers

I, personally, found most of these to be pretty 'meh', however YMMV.

I am still waiting for the 73" 742 from Fry's again for $799..

I was hoping to see some discounted lower tier models but it looks like Dell only has 3 models left (2 73", one 82"), as well as some other retailers so I'm guessing Mitsu has been gearing down for a while. I'm not sure I want to wait....

Pauls' TV also has the 92742 TV for $2799. While some have complaints about the Home Delivery service, I had a happy experience.

What I care about is the image quality. So my choice would be plasma, then DLP, and then LCD/LED (personally, can't care less about the "thickness" of the TV). Plasma to me still has the best picture quality. LCD/LED has the most "artificial" images. Take a look at the Sharp 80" at Best Buy and the Mits 742 and 842 series. You'll see a difference in picture quality.

I have a big open space, and a big bay window. No problem watching the TV, but you do see more "grainy" pictures in the daylight WHEN the resolution is not high.

Update:

From my personal experience, viewing from both sides of the room is not a problem. However, you do see different images when you adjust the seat height. I simply put my TV on the floor--my sofa is 17" high. However, I found that I have to sit on the floor to view 3D movies--I guess I'll get a custom-made 12" tv stand later.

My thought about the discontinuation of the DLP TVs: The better technologies (primarily wrt picture quality) do not always win.

Cons:
-terrible mitsubishi customer support. Any email will get you an email back telling you to call in. They won't help you unless you have the warranty, which means the store is helping you. So basically they won't help you at all.
-overscan, look it up...
-only digital format is AC3, no DTS support which is more common
-^above two reasons make it terrible for computers
-colors are not as bright. My WiiU gamepad has better color than my TV.
You forgot about these cons:
Dinosaur Like Projectors are finally in extinction mode, R.I.P., and that they will very soon have the same value-retention as CRT type tv's.

yea DLPs are so crappy, theaters around the country still use them and are upgrading to 4K DLPs. If I needed a 75"+ LCD/plasma to replace my 73" its more than double what I am paying here.

I believe that was 73642, not 742. And the non-white glove shipping was about $150.

Wasn't the 92742 around 2500 a month or two ago?

You aren't seeming like a troll. You are a troll. Your "older" Mitsu set is not like the newer sets. Misinformation from people who have no idea what they are talking about is part of the reason why Mitsu is stopping their production. People believe anything they read and won't buy one because it's "old technology" or their "old RPTV was massive and couldn't see anything". Sheep

And this actually puts me in the market for another TV. I have a 60 inch DLP from 2010, and a 50 inch LG Plasma, I really wanted to upgrade to a 73 inch DLP in a year and give the 60" to my father, but this is pushing me sooner rather than later.

How Can it be misinformation, when consumer reports has in writing that Mitsu has the worst repair record. Just letting everyone know how crappy these DLP's are. There are reasons that they turned into dinosaurs. I couldn't even get rid of my once $2800 unit for $100. Everyone wants super thin TV's and not thick ones anymore. My Samsung ES7100 rocks!!!!! Big Grin

totally fair comparison for a 55" $1800 Samsung tv when you could get a 60" mitsubishi dlp for around 1/3 that. Your posts are textbook troll. Be proud in your trollnes! Wear it like you are proud!

My post specifically are not comparing what I have vs. the DLP. My posts are about fact and not what I prefer. It's what the majority of what the market wants now. So you go enjoy your DLP, and after a few more years of use, you will notice the picture fade quickly.

Yes, I got my 92742 from Paul's (via NewEgg coupon pricematch) for $2499 in late November.
Loving it so far!

And then we buy a new bulb and move on with life with a brand new picture that beats out the vast majority of current consumer LCD technology except for the washed out brightness offered by the LED models.

Regarding everyone wanting 'super thin' TVs; perhaps there are also those of us who have large enough rooms to accommodate these 'fatties' with a touch of space to spare - perhaps more appropriate for a screen of larger portions? I actually have my Mitsu pulled around 2.5 feet away from the wall so that I have a clear walkway behind it to access all of my A/V connections, and we still sit 13ft away... Get over it dude, people buying larger TVs like these generally have a bit more space to offer than those who are trying to cram compromised sizes in tight spaces. Keep in mind - the 73" is only 18" deep... No, you can't wall mount it, but many people I know with LCDs have them sitting on stands anyhow - and guess what(?) - those stands are deeper than 18"... Also, my 73" Mitsubishi actually weighs ~14lbs less than the Sharp Aquos 70" LED LCD...

Let's move on, shall we?

Sorry for the delayed response! The Mitsubishis do not have Netflix connectivity - Mitsu decided to lean more heavily on Vudu instead. I mostly use my Panny Bluray player for streaming, as it definitely offers a more complete Internet suite.

I'm confused about the 3D options. I have the 73642, which has "3DTV (VESA Jack and DLP Link)" and does not have an "Internal 3D Glasses IR Emitter". I take this to mean that I have to purchase an external 3D emitter (most like the "Dimensional Optics 3ACTIVE IR Emitter Compatible with Mitsubishi 3D DLP TV"). Is this true?

Also, because of an earlier post I'd like to repeat that I had the 65 inch DLP (65638, I think). Bought it at Circuit City B&M, so that tells you I had it for a while. The picture never dimmed, and I never replaced the lamp.

Yes as the bulb ages the picture can and will dim somewhat over time. Nothing else in picture quality will change and with a new bulb the TV will be like brand new again.

However your samsung LCD TV picture will degrade over time and nothing you do can change or fix that fact.

I saw this deal before the OP posted it and great post detail so reps for that. I have the first generation 82" DLP and it has been great so far for many years. That being said I wanted a 92" since I first heard of them but price kept me away. Since they stopped making them now I had to order and I got the WD92842 - Bundle with stand(great price for a 83" stand). The 82" bundle is the better buy IMO but the price premium on the 92" is still the lowest it has been on the current model before they run out of stock. My father has a 73" and he bought a WD82842 - Bundle without stand.

We can't wait for our TV's this friday!
