I have them both. The Home Depot HDX shelves are great for use inside the home. The gorilla rack is much taller and nicer looking but that may be my personal preference. If I had to choose one I'd buy the $20 HDX racks because of the price.

I believe the one mentioned here is made of steel? The one you linked to says it's plastic, so that might matter to some.

Wanted to post this myself, forgot :-). These are part of Ace Hardware's "Red Hot January Buys", and they do go on sale once in a while. I bought four of these about five years ago (same price), and am getting two more this time around. I did paint particleboard shelves, they didn't really sag (shelf is not deep), but they do attract moisture and resulting mold.

Main advantage of these shelves, in my mind, is superior fit, and shallow depth. They assemble like a charm, compared to others I bought from HD. And shallow depth really help when storing small stuff, like tools and batteries, so you don't have to dig through piles of stuff reaching for something at the farther end.

In my garage I currently have 4 of these gorilla racks, the Edsal units from Lowes that are $50.00ish on sale, and the $60.00 heavy duty unit from Costco.

I will never buy anything besides the Heavy Duty unit from Costco;. It's currently holding a crazy amount of weight and it’s solid as a rock.

The Lowes are the second best units

and these are by far the worst in quality. They are pretty flexy and as other state the wood that comes with them is pretty thin.

That being said if you just need some racks to hold some not so heavy things, these will work fine just be aware they are not very deep at all.

Do you mean you bought one, and expected the image you posted, but it wasn't the image?

I am on the fence about buying one specifically to use as a work bench, but there is very little information on the web about how it looks/functions as a work bench.

There is a long dialoge about the HDX at the link below. The HDX are: Plastic, light, easy to assemple, better for outdoor use, not adjsutable, not as big, not as strong, cheaper.
I have some of both type am pleased with both. The gorellas look simular to the Edsel brand that HD used to sell.

Just bought two of these. Put them together this morning and I can tell you they are great and sturdy. I also have the Costco 5 shelf unit in my garage (All in my dry garage) For the price, they are a steal! I would recommend them or two! Seems like there are others here discussing "other" shelving products and not responding to the one listed.

According to the instructions the workbench will setup like set 8 in the pdf link. I ordered three and plan on putting two tall shelves on either side of the workbench. I also measured my current workbench and it's also 36" tall which these should be when assembled as pictured.

If anyone as a different setup I would love to see it...

I wish I had more space, I'd definitely buy another. It freed up a lot of closet space we needed for the newborn.

Bought these last time. They ARE VERY HARD to put together. I had to use lots of WD40 to get the parts to slide together.
