Not a SD but feel OK.

ULV processor, poor resolution for a 15.6" screen, no dedicated graphics. But it does have a backlit keyboard. Should be $450 or less to be even a warm deal.

It's a touchscreen laptop. That makes the equation different for most people, right? I agree that 600 bucks for this laptop is a bad price if it was a standard screen, but the touchscreen feature makes the laptop worth more. $600 seems like a decent price. There aren't a whole lot of touchscreen laptop deals being posted.

Barring BF deals, have you ever seen an Ivy Bridge i5 Win 8 Touchscreen laptop new for $450 or less, ever?

Touchscreens are a fad, and when Microsoft realizes this and makes Win 9 a typical desktop OS, the popularity will fade.
The $150+ premium for a touchscreen simply isn't worth it.

That's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. You should've qualified that in your first post, so people understood that and realized where you were coming from, rather than thinking you didn't know what the product was.

Right now, touchscreen laptops cost more to buy than non-touchscreen ones. If you don't see any value in it, that's reasonable. But not everybody feels that way. Time will tell if touchscreen laptops are/were a fad.

Amazon has link [amazon.com] similar one with 6GB RAM for $722.

I'm still wondering besides refurb & scratch & dents, where people think they can get a 900 or 1080 screen resolution on a lappy @ this price point?

Fine, show me a touchscreen AMD processor equivalent to this one in speed for $450 or less. You won't.

Disagree on multiple levels:

1. Touchscreen will not end up being a fad. It will be the standard for laptops - as with everything else, the price for touchscreens will continue to drop due to the larger supply and demand, and it will not continue to be a $150 premium.

2. Win 9 won't be a typical desktop OS, and shouldn't be. If they were smart, there will be a Windows 9 Touch Mobile, and a Windows 9 Desktop - that communicate and meld seamlessly together. That's what Windows 8 should have been - they should never have combined the OS's, or at the very least, made one OS that is capable of being installed both as a desktop version and touch/mobile version, and made this as easy as a push of a button. Not requiring people to buy Start button programs and the such.
