Antenna Clarification
Or, does it the number of antennas matter for ~ 8 devices? Thanks again for the helpful information! |

I'd imagine that all these standards are created and tested in rooms with zero wireless frequency interference which is pretty much not attainable in the real world. The IRS was asked to provide itemized receipts detailing how the government was billed $50 million USD for their conferences and conventions. They were unable to find some of those receipts. Funny how if you, or I, or SD.net gets audited by the IRS, we're going to be expected to find receipts for everything. |

I picked up the Tenda N60 that has been on sale for $39.99 at Newegg for at least a week. Dual band and gigabit router. It sounds like this TP Link can use open source firmware, but I know the N60 cannot at this time. Otherwise, seems to be a great price with no rebate required. Any other differences that make this TP-Link better than the Tenda?

[QUOTE=yazyazoo;56783720]How is the speed on this for wireless? I want to get one but the Amazon and Newegg reviews scare me. There are a lot of 1 or 2 stars saying the router doesn't work.
I've been looking & researching for a new router to replace my old Netgear wrg614 for the last few weeks. Almost all of the routers out there, regardless of brand & price, there were always some scary 1 or 2 stars reviews. I came very close in buying the refurb Linsys EA2700, TPlink WR1043nd & TPlink wndr4300, but each time after reading the reviews from various sources, I back out of it. The reason I just pull the trigger on this router is because I realized that there is "no perfect" router out there. You just have to go by what your expectations are & a decent review. For me, it is based on Price, Decent Reviews, Dual Band & Gigabit port. Since I'm not technical savy, I hope this will work right out of the box without having to doing any changes/updates to it. This way, I don't have to worry about any Tomatoes, Potatoes, Carrots, or Open-source, Hot-Sauce.......: ![]() P.S. I have to pay tax of $4.13 in N.J. |

Change the router IP to 192.168.1.2 Set the same SSID and password as main router... then there is a setting where you have to "join site" which you will pick your main router. I am at work so that's how I did mine in a nutshell |

Just got a EA2700, looks good to me. Had several Tenda or other WiFi routers and can't cover my small home. But this one works great.

jcwy999,
I am technical but kind of same with you when it comes to hardware. I've been reading all about routers for past 2-3 months and as you said there is no perfect one but the reviews for this seems pretty good. The ONLY thing you/we should remember that we'll upgrade/update the firmware right after installation. That seems to fix many complaints about this router. I am in one and hopefully it'll work great.
