Good price. Haven't seen it any cheaper either I paid retail for my wifes when they re released it. Now if they would just get the darn Android app up and running so I can sell this over glorified paperweight they call a iPhone 5.

Haven't they been promising the Android app for a little more than a year now? Their reasoning is the same as the Slickdeals App...let's see how long it takes!

LoL! I think so but part of that was from the original. I'm sure they didn't work on the android version at all when they were testing the new version of the UP, With their Jawbone it was about 9 months after they said they were making a android app for a battery meter before we saw it. Still kills me that it's integrated into IOS!

As a side note we will be seeing this mentality of IOS first or IOS only apps go away. Apple is and has been loosing marked share for over a year. With the death of Steve Jobs RIP the company will be back to where they were without him within 3 years.


Though you have to admit it does make sense to get a slickdeals app to the IOS user as fast as possible. I mean you have to figure they are more in need after buying way overpriced apple products then the rest of use sane and smart people who don't like to overpay for useless junk.

I've been using the first generation UP for a long while now, and have been a very active community member for Jawbone/Aliph.

Just as a word of warning, the company is extremely crooked.


They have changed their terms for different programs without warning ("No Questions Asked Refund", "Jawbone Insiders"), change the stated terms of agreement without providing an archive to the old EULA, do not honor warranties, bribe users who have the ability to gather attention online, etc.


The two most shocking acts were from the "Refund" disaster and the denial of warranties as of recent. When the public found out that the first generation Jawbone UPs had a manufacturing defect, Jawbone created a "No Questions Asked" refund policy that would allow a customer to call/emial the company with their serial number to receive a check/refund. The original EULA stated that only a serial number was needed. This was modified 3 weeks later (without notice) to state that the product had to be used and synced with an account. This was modified again to state that the original owner needed to provide evidence that they still held the product - as in, if you had bought one as a gift and could provide the serial number and receipt, you would be denied a refund just for the sake that you gave it away (this was right before Christmas, so many people were buying the UP as gifts to family/friends). This was modified again so that if a customer service rep. didn't believe you owned an UP even after providing a receipt, picture, sync hsitory and serial, you would be denied the refund. Every time they changed the wording for the EULA, they completely erased the portion of the website and expedited cache removal. A lot of customers defended the company since they said that Jawbone didn't need to provide refunds - that they did it out of good-faith, so it was within their right to deny refunds.


However, an even worse rip-off started happening in late October of 2012. Jawbone started denying warranty claims, even for owners who were within their warranty period. Jawbone offered a multi-replacement warranty program wherein your Jawbone UP could be replaced as many times as needed within your warranty period. However, when the new Jawbone UP (generation 2) was announced, Jawbone decided to stop honoring warranties even for people who had 6 months left on their warranties. A community manager for their website forum first stated that if you had already received a warranty replacement, you were ineligible for another replacement. However, there were outcries from people who had never received a replacement and were still being denied a replacement. After several forum threads started gaining momentum, Jawbone ERASED their entire online community. As in, they deleted EVERYTHING. They came back a few days later with a different layout for their forum; one that allows more moderation. All of the reputation points ("kudos") for users were reset, member accounts were deleted or banned, and moderators now delete negative posts.


From a business stand-point, it makes sense to try to control your image and make profit in any way possible. However, most companies are subtle in their methods. Jawbone/Aliph does not operate in that sense, and it took me about 10 months to realize that the company works very hard to manipulate their core customers.

^ Man I that is seriously shady for a company! Regardless the GF got one a few weeks ago and has been on me about getting one so we can both keep track of stuff. The sleep tracking seems pretty great. I just payed $117 ($126 shipped) for a Large band. Great price since I never see them on sale anywhere. Best buy has it for $ 129 + Tax right now.
