I just did this, so I thought I would share in hopes that it helps someone.

I know this is not a new offer. But if you go directly to chase or united web site, the offer is 30K, while this link gets you 55k.

I have a trip for my family of 4 from Chicago to Jacksonville in March. So at the very least I think this gets me to check a bag for free.

I had a united card years ago from Chase. This is a united explorer. Usually Chase doesn't allow you to get the same offer twice. So it will be interesting to see if I get the bonus points (YMMV).

https://www.united.com/web/en-US/...thatsaplus

I got immediate acceptance.

This is DEAD

ONLY 30K now

"Previous and existing United MileagePlus Visa cardmembers/accounts are not eligible for this bonus offer."

Use this link to get additional $50 statement credit: -- This is DEAD

Code:
https://www.theexplorercard.com/MPYoureIn50k50AFWIC.aspx
Please follow ALL of the steps below to get the 50k offer PLUS $50 statement credit:

1. You need to sign into your united mileageplus account (or sign up for one if you don't have one). You will probably see the link for the 50k offer, but don't click that one because you may not get the $50 statement credit.

2. You will need RECENT activity on your mileageplus account in order to see 50k offer. Otherwise, you will see only 30k.

3. If you do not have recent activity, sign up for an account at bckstgr dot com. From there, you can link your facebook and/or twitter account for some miles. Miles should hit soon after you do this, BUT you may need to refresh your Cache or close/switch browsers in order to see this on your mileageplus account.

(bckstgr can be finicky but appears to be working now)

4. Try the link again and confirm that you see BOTH the 50k offer and $50 statement credit (see uploaded screenshot). If you don't see the statement credit, try searching for a flight and the banner on the search page should include the credit (as of 3/17/2013)

5. Most are approved instantly. If you are not, you may check the status of the application by calling the reconsideration number (888-245-0625) - I needed to move credit line from some of my other underutilized chase cards I had opened for promos (thanks SD!).

Promo:

50,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months your account is open.

5,000 bonus miles after you add an authorized user to your account and make a purchase with your card during the first 3 months as a Cardmember.

10,000 bonus miles every calendar year you spend at least $25,000 on your Card.

Additional benefits with card:

*two United Club lounge passes each year

*waived baggage fee on first checked bag on United flights

Annual fee waived in first year, $95 after that. Some report being able to regularly get the fee waived by threatening to cancel.

Credit goes to bombnthud at Flyertalk and rhornback at SD.

If you have already signed up for this card within the last 90days you can send a secure message to customer service and tell them you saw the 50k +50 offer today and you would like your account to reflect this newer offer.. in 99% of cases they will credit your account without having to show the pdf for proof. 90 days is the limit.

** If bckstgr isn't working for opening an account and you're looking for a quick way to add Mileage Rewards points recent activity to your account so you can see the upgraded 50k mile offer instead of 30k, you can open a United Dining account. You can dine at a participating restaurant in your area with the registered credit card and the points will show up in your Mileage Plus account in a couple of days. The link to United Dining is:

Is Amazon Payments still the easiest way to hit the 1,000 mark? Would be more convenient if there was a way I could transfer the money to myself.

you could do wells fargo pre-paid debit card. $1000 load will cost $1005 and you can unload with two $500 free atm's and you are done

Nine credit cards isn't a high number. I've got 15 and I don't think that's exceptional.

The fact that the credit limit is low isn't a problem. In fact, it's a plus, if you're trying to leave room for more credit cards. Meanwhile, the length that you've held the card is an important attribute that I'd suggest you keep for credit scoring purposes.

There's no need to get rid of the account, unless you've got several other CHASE credit accounts. CHASE doesn't like to issue large number of credit accounts.

And there's no reason to close the old UNITED credit card just because you've opened up a new UNITED credit card. I have an old United MileagePlus VISA card and signed up for the new United Explorer credit card.

I suggest you reconsider.
yes i have 19 cards and just 6 with chase
so you can get atleast upto 6 cards with chase

Points should post after the close of cycle in which you meet the minimum purchase requirement. As a side note, I applied for the same offer about 1 ago and just closed the card today as they did not budge on the annual fee.
I know they are very strict with United and annual fee. I called and they told me to call back at the one year anniversary of the card but she was doubtful I will get the credit. I had the AA card and in four years I think I paid the $60 fee twice. Two other times they placed an equal credit on my card.

The questions you seek are subjective questions, and it all depends on the individual and what card is right for them. Also, credit card offers sometimes do only last a few hours because most of the time a lot of the offers are targetted and once the company figures out that more people know about the offer than intended, they'll shut it down.

#1 rule of SD is buy first, think later.
Wrong. For credit card deals with miles they generally last longer than just a few hours. The 2 Roundtrip Flights on Southwest lasted from the 10th through the 16th almost a week. http://slickdeals.net/f/5793144-Two-Roundtrip-Flights-50k-Points-with-New-Southwest-Airlines-Premier-Credit-Card-Approval-for-1000-Spent-within-First-3-Months-ITS-BACK?v=1

The Continental card deal I applied for last year lasted a few weeks. The United Card deal I applied for (the year prior to the Continental) lasted for a whole month. This United Explorer deal is approaching 5 days now.

The Chase Sapphire card I was just approved for yesterday (40k point promotion) has been ongoing for many days (perhaps weeks) now.

Last year they would not reverse the fee after it was charged but with a little convincing over the phone, they instead gave me a $100 statement credit to cover the fee. Supposedly a one time exception but I will be trying this again.

Couple of Questions:

GF got approved instantly, I got approved by calling for manual approval.

Can we add each other as Authorized users on one another's cards to get the 5K bonus each?

How long after meeting the prerequisite spend does it take for the miles to be available for use? We are planning a trip for late May and are hoping to use the miles to purchase those tickets.

Thanks for the great deal!

Did you use the link in the wiki? I just did this and I see the $50 statement credit. I just applied and was instantly approved. I called to get my delivery date of my card expedited since I need to book a work trip. Thanks OP.

Success!

I called up the reconsideration phone number in the Wiki and was informed by the CSR that my application had been declined due to too many applications in the prior year (Chase Disney, Chase Amazon, Chase Southwestern Airlines).

I asked them if closing two of the accounts, the Disney and the Amazon, would make any difference. The CSR put me on hold for a few minutes, then came back with the approval. Big Grin
I got confirmation of the bonus deal via the Chase online secure messaging:
Dear Mr XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Chase about your United
MileagePlus(R) Explorer credit card account.

We reviewed the application you submitted in January 2013
and have confirmed that the up to 65,000 bonus miles

waiver. Each year thereafter, your card annual fee will be
$95.00.

miles post to your account six to eight weeks from the
date the minimum spend was met.
- You will earn 5,000 bonus miles by adding an authorized
user and making your first purchase in the first three
months of opening of your account.
- You also can earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend
$25,000 or more on your card each calendar year.
- You will receive a $50.00 statement credit after first
purchase.

With the $95.00 annual fee on the United MileagePlus

Note: This is my second Chase United credit card. The first one, a Mileage Plus VISA account, was opened in February 2006. So the fact that I already had a United account did not disqualify me from the bonuses
