1/21 Update**White is OOS, but they still have Black

AT&T has the igrill black or white for $59.25 Free shipping This is the best deal that I could find. Next closest non ebay item was about $70. There are a couple used ones that might go cheaper, but my experience with grill thermometers is that you will use the warranty, so buy new. I have had many of the temp probes go bad on my Maverick. I use my smoker all the time and this is useful for those overnight smokes so I can just check the temp in my ipad without getting out of bed.

There is a good chance you have some of the stuff you need sitting around the house like a 12v adapter, rca cable, 32mb SD card, ect. The variables are how many temp probes you want and what kind of case you want. You can get a custom 3d printed case ($74) or throw it into a radio shack project enclosure (~$7). I am trying a different route using a pre-made enclosure for a handheld medical device. Here are the parts break down:

•Everything from the Mouser project $31
•Everything from DigiKey: 1xBlower 1xSocket 4xJacks $19
•A HeaterMeter v4.0 PCB - $13
•12V 1A (or greater) power adapter with 2.1mm barrel jack (tip positive)
• Maverick temperature probes (ET-72 or ET-73), minimum 1, up to 4 $10ea
• RaspberryPi Model B $35
•An old RCA cable, such as composite video (yellow) or stereo audio (red/white)
•Full sized SD card (not microSD or miniSD) 32MB (yes, megs) or larger
• WiFi Adapter (optional) $10

So lets say you already have a SD card, RCA cable, and 12v adapter laying around like I do and use a Radio Shack case. And use buy two probes (1 pit 1 food) Total cost: ~$130.
Thanks for this clear understanding of what's needed. I have the igrill, but I may just give this a shot. Rep'd!

Even if you don't need/want the fan to maintain heat, this will give you an internet enabled thermometer so you can check temps anywhere, anytime. iGrill is bluetooth- not sure how good the distance is? Oh, and iGrill and Maverick use different types of sensors in the probes so I dont think the iGrill ones work for this.

I have a Maverick ET-732 and one of the prob sockets died and the range is not stellar.

Thanks, good to know regarding non-interchanging probes. Bluetooth range has been great for me, haven't really had the need to test limits yet, but as with routers, ymmv depending on home layout, wall types, etc...

Hmmm. They cancelled my order:

Thank you for choosing AT&T.

Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online. As a result, your order has been canceled.

If you would like to purchase additional lines of service, please visit one of our AT&T retail locations and present your identification to our representatives. They will be happy to help you purchase new wireless devices, accessories, and service.

After calling them, they said I would have to go into a store to pick one up. They didn't say what could not be verified.

This is my first order with them. Anyone else have this problem?

I got mine a few days ago and mine is also broken. The screws just fell out and the device just came apart. Not sure if I should get a replacement or just return it.

This is a really cool product. I have used it three times now for an overnight smoke. One issue, it was 5 degrees last night and the unit froze...my pork shoulder overcooked as a result, but still edible. I will need to put it closer to the smoker next time to keep from freezing.

Just tried placing my order again, but was again denied. I guess they don't want my money.
