Submitted my case yesterday, escalated it today. Got my refund. Here's what I did. I asked the seller for a tracking number the day after he marked the item as shipped which was on the 11th. Seller never responded. Opened a case yesterday under the category of I haven't received my item and added previous details about the fraud and mentioned I previously tried contacting the seller. The seller replied with a bogus tracking number that isn't trackable. Escalated the case reiterating the fraud and pointing out that the tracking number is most likely not valid since it cannot be traced in contrast to my previous and recent sales with other sellers overseas who provided valid trackable shipping information as support for my case.

I'm thinking if you had previously filed a case against this vendor you have to wait 11 days for them to research it and make sure no shipping tracking number shows up. I filed on the 15th, and they told me they will let me know on the 26th what they will do.
Tracking number does not show in any tracking program. Paypal should have program in place with this vendor, and if you never contacted paypal until today, you could get it solved by tomorrow, since you never asked for tracking number like some of us did. |

I contacted the seller for the refund next day he marked as shipping. He never responded. Opened a case yesterday night. Seller responded with 2 tracking numbers for my 2 tablets at around 2 am. Then at 10 am or so he escalated the case to eBay. eBay refunded my money for both orders around 2 pm.
My guess is that the seller sold low value items and built his reputation. He had all the feedbacks he wanted and the option to move the money right away to his bank account. Then listed all these electronics for cheaper price. People jumped on it and bought stuffs worth of $50k - 70k in couple of days. He moved all his money to his bank account took his time to get the money by started marking items as shipped. Then closes his bank account and there is no way for eBay/Paypal to get the money back. Making the cases escalated to eBay and eBay has to pay from their pocket to cover these scams. How smart! Need to watch out for these listings in future as we have some restricted no of buyer protection cases we can open in a year. Always hunting....

I don't believe any of us would have fallen for this scam if it wasn't being posted repeatedly on Slick Deals. The Mod made the mistake of moving it to "deals section" and then NEW person posted same deal, and snagged New people. Then Mod moved it to Deals Section. And then New person posted in Hot deals. You get my point.
The SD MOD , took away all the Fraud Alerts, so at least 2,500 Slickdeal people got caught in this SCAM. Now, many of us know about this type scam, and can warn others, And maybe SlickDeal Mod can keep it in Hot Deals with banner saying "fraud alert" do not buy. |

You have limited history or selling activity. You have low Detailed Seller Ratings, negative Feedback, or other indication of below-standard performance on eBay. You have a high rate of customer refunds, disputes, claims, or chargebacks. You're selling in a high risk category or industry such as tickets, travel, gift certificates, computers, consumer electronics, or mobile phones. Your business or selling activity is inconsistent. For example, you have a spike in selling activity, your average selling price changes, or you started selling in a new category. The account information you have provided is incomplete or inaccurate, or we're uncertain about the information you've provided. Your withdrawal activity has changed. Paypal has all the information they need to detect and stop such a scam before the seller moves the money. No reason for them to pay out of pocket. |

But what I learned from this thread is that there are restrictions for the buyers as well on the no of cases they can open in any year. I don't want to mess with that with these scams and dent my image and not able to file claim for a legit problem. Also for products from China, if we need to ship the item back to them its gonna cost more than $15 which is kind of scary and will be really checking my future purchase from other Chinese sellers. |

Crap. Tracking just showed up a few hours ago on my item. It starts on Jan 24th in china. So paypal is holding me in holding pen and say to check back feb 12th.
So this vendor waited until the last day it had to show up for paypal to keep this game going. If I had not received any shipping info by today they would have given me my refund. |
