You need a dual-link card. If you want a cheap fast dual-link card, look for an ATI 5450 or 6450 (or even an old 4450). After rebate it will be only $10-$15 You can temporarily use the HDMI input to get 1920x1080 but of course it will look huge. donate to your local food bank [feedingamerica.org] help buy socks for the homeless [ugm.org] (use Amazon link on that page) |

There is no way to get more than 2048x1152 out of intel HD graphics http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/...500_2.html Moreover, there are a few limitations in resolutions and monitor connection types. Theoretically, a desktop system on an Ivy Bridge processor can offer three outs: the first one - a universal out (HDMI, DVI, VGA or DisplayPort) with maximum resolution of 1920x1200, the second one – a DisplayPort, HDMI or DVI with up to 1920x1200 resolution, and the third one – a DisplayPort supporting higher resolutions up to 2560x1600. In other words, a popular connection option when WQXGA monitors are connected to Intel HD Graphics 4000 via Dual-Link DVI is still unavailable. If your laptop has displayport you *might* be able to use the U2713HM, otherwise you'll need a better laptop or return the monitor. Last edited by avalon; 01-14-2013 at 09:27 PM.. |

According to ATI the max resolution from an HD3450 card is 2560x1600 and it should be a Dual Link DVI output, so as long as you use the correct dual link DVI cable it should work. Source: http://www.amd.com/us/products/no...specs.aspx Last edited by jleonard711; 01-14-2013 at 09:31 PM.. |

My 2 cent is: if you need a monitor of this caliber, you'll know it. If you have to ask question like yours, my bet is the benefits you'd reap from this monitor won't justify the price. |

completely different than anything ati sells, even they use "hd" in the name I know firsthand that Intel HD graphics CANNOT do dual-link. If they have displayport it *might* be able to do it but most windows based laptops unless they are very new do not have displayport. Some high end dell vostros apparently come with displayport - but I do not know what model they are using. Last edited by avalon; 01-14-2013 at 09:34 PM.. |

Code:
Ports, Slots & Chassis
Network connector (RJ45)
USB 3.0 (2)
USB 2.0 (1)
USB 2.0/eSATA combo (1)
Microphone jack
Headphone/speaker out
8-in-1 card reader
34 mm ExpressCard
HDMI connector
15-pin VGA video connector
Full size, spill-resistant keyboard
Optional backlit keyboard
Standard Gesture Multi-Touchpad
From what I can tell HD6630M only does 2560x1440 over displayport which they left out on your model. |

If you want more than 1920x1080, you'll need another laptop. According to Dell, here http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/vostro-3450/pd that laptop has TWO video chips.
The other is the ATI graphics chip. I've never heard of such a configuration but I guess it's possible they share the same port somehow. Maybe by some craziness if you can force the ATI chip to always be used and not the intel chip it might support dual-link by some miracle. But it's a long shot and I have no idea how to advise you to do it. Have you tried plugging in the laptop into the wall so it's on full power so maybe it will always use the ATI chip? This is just a wild guess. |
