Though not nearly as low profile, I have been using this one from meritline for a couple months with no complaints. Also, per the reviews it will hold a nexus 7.
It feels cheap compared to a garmin GPS mount, but it's $4... I'm still tempted to pick one o the iottie ones up, just for the low profile. I'd like something to reliably stick to the dash board though. http://www.monoprice.com/products...4#feedback |

I third the sentiment that this mount is not worth it. I got three for our various cars due to the low price and the high ratings. Mount 1: failed due to warped tightener. It created a loose seal and the mount kept falling from the windshield. I-ottie (via Amazon) replaced that one. Mount 2 and 3: on the clamps holding our S3s/iphones, the rubber cushioners quickly moved all over the place and eventually got stuck on our phones or fell off the mount. The rubber cushioner pads are attached through some sort of semi-weak adhesive. Ultimately, we were left with a mount without necessary padding to keep the phone securely in place. Also, if your charger wire is a bit taut from the lighter/adapter, it will pull the phone and mount quite a bit. The mount is not strong enough on its own. Iottie did not honor the 2nd mounts problems, and Amazon refunded our money. When the 3rd mount failed, we just gave up. Interestingly, the stickiness to the windshield were not the main problems. It was the failure of the rubber pads in the clamps that caused the major fail for these mounts. We ended up testing a few more mounts and ended up picking 3 seidios--which are a bit pricer but strong and worth it. Not perfect (the clickety nature of the rotation mechansim requires careful placement to get your mount perfectly horizontal), but worth it. Last edited by creuset; 01-14-2013 at 07:44 PM.. |

Another +1 for the iOttie One Touch. I have been using it for a few months now and it works great with my iPhone 5. The suction is great, you can twist and turn it is all directions, and the best part is the open/close via the One Touch button.

I bought this back in the summer when it was 100+ out here in California. It was good for 2 days and then I found it on the ground. The suction is not very good at all. Also the hinges or the mechanism that rotates started to droop when I would try to position it upward. Wouldnt hold my iphone upright after a day or so. I would not recommend this product at all.

I'm all about saving money, but spending 10-15 dollars on chaper mounts, only to have them last a short time, is not a smart decision. Also, I need it to be safe enough to hold my $600 investment properly and securely. Let's Go Mets!
