More of an FYI than a deal, but current Discover More card holders should phone in to product change to a Discover IT. The IT is better in every way - it has
better rewards: (same category bonuses, but with 1% cash back from the first dollar instead of after 3k)
and lower fees: waived overlimit fee and fee for first late payment, lower interest rates.

Phone in to switch, no credit pull.

If you don't have a Discover More card, consider holding off on applying for a Discover IT until there is a cash bonus offer.

I generally will only use Discover Card for ShopDiscover offers (though some claim you can use any CC via ShopDiscover, I have not gotten credit the couple of times I tried on smaller purchases) or for special promos like their 2% cash back on auto recurring cable\sat\phone or 5% on internet purchases that was in play last quarter.
.
I can confirm that I have always gotten the CB on shopdiscover even though I paid with non discover card and even some times paid with Gift cards.

This card (IT) has "No foreign transaction fee" benefit, does the regular Discover card has the same? I want to switch over if the regular one doesn't have it.

discover always has it, because they aren't very popular overseas

What about the "cash over purchase" feature? I can't break that since its the only way I get pocket cash now. I haven't used a debit card since 2009 because of this - and yes, I pay off the balance every month.

Discover benefits > Chase Freedom Benefits. In fact better than Amex blue I would say
https://www.discover.com/credit-c...-benefits/

If you are not getting cashback as promised, a call to Cust Service will fix the issue.

I use it over my other 20 or so credit cards mostly unless I am in a chase 5% category or Amex promo and is not buying electronics (I like the price protection of Discover...so only Discover for Electronics)

No IT card. May be they haven't updated yet?

This is worrying: "Unlimited 1% cash back, not points, on all other purchases" because I was interested in getting the points to do $50 in Walmart gift cards for $40 (in points) although it's not as slick of a deal since Walmart no longer sells Kindle cards.
Hmm, that's another good point. Sometimes they have those discounted gift card promotions (remember those Shell gas cards that were 50% off?). Sounds like it wouldn't be possible to redeem discover rebate for gift cards with the IT card?

This Discover IT card looks like an attempt to basically compete with Chase Freedom and Capital One.
I regret closing the Freedom card and hope to get it back if/when they have a big signup bonus again.

My Discover More cashback is always measured in the dollar amount; I don't redeem 2000 points for a $25 GC, I redeem $20 cashback for a $25 GC. I don't think the program is changing.

As a general FYI, you actually do have to phone or email in to switch, the IT program isn't available yet through the "Change Rewards Program" page on their site.

Currently use Discover and Chase. This quarter they have different 5% CB bonuses so it works out well.

I do not know if this $100 promotion is still valid. It does not specify an expiration date, yet a c/s rep told me that he does not see a signup bonus at this time.

If buying something on amazon, you should use your CC so you can get cashback on that purchase too. Later on, you can get a CC statement credit or get one of their partner gift cards.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Discover doesn't give CB on Amazon purchases. Amazon isn't on their list of retailers. I could be wrong though and maybe they added amazon.
