Not if you can believe Crucial (I think it's them). According to CES reports, they're releasing a 1TB SSD for $600 list price in the next 1-2 months... Of course 500GB and down will be less as well. Don't spend a lot of money on these small drives now if you can wait... |

On late 2012, a $130 256G SSD could appear on front page, now, $160 can. I have been waiting too long since last year. My new Lenovo T430s will come two weeks later. So I will pull the trigger. |

I very well know that it is considered the best on the market but prices are still steep IMO relative to similarly performing alternatives. Benchmark tests put it at the top, but not by much and most sites that run these tests repeatedly state that differences are not noticeable in real world applications between the drives. If availability of cheaper alternatives is a problem, then this becomes a more favorable deal. http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...,3302.html

What is the point of arguing over an 830 versus 840 with "performance?" The 840 is atleast 100MB/s or more on some benches. Maybe in real world performances, it doesn't matter too much--but that can be said for almost any decent SSDs. Almost all Sandforce 2281 performs the same, but yet some cost much more. The same can be said about these MDX, or Marvell or Sandforce controllers that are about the same classes. Ppl will barely notice much difference, other than from a couple to a few seconds differences.
This is a great price, once the code expire--it will go back up since the 840 series is relativity new. If you don't like the 840, it still doesn't make this not a slick deal. It is still one of the best price NOW. Go troll something else, it is like ppl are trying to compare one V8 car to another V8 car. Last edited by TheMoreYouKnow; 01-15-2013 at 09:50 PM.. |
