I have an early Feb 2011 Macbook Pro. I believe that is only SATA II. Does that mean I don't need (can't use?) the world's fastest SSD? Are there cheaper alternatives out there that would see the same real-world performance, given the lack of SATA III? Does any of this matter?

I was originally in the market for an 830 a few months ago, but was never able to nab one quick enough. I jumped on this 840 Pro right after Xmas when it was $224+free shipping, so this is a new best as far as pricing for the 840 Pro.
Still annoys me that people chime in with "OMG why is dis so 'spensive?!?!" and "Wasn't this $160?!"... SAMSUNG. 840. PRO. DO YOUR RESEARCH. I feel like we're addressing the same idiots over and over again. |

This has been on the market for only like 3 months so far. The 830 didn't really hit rock bottom prices until last month or November. Which was like 9 months after it initial became available. Soooo maybe wait 6 months to save? 60$? I guess it all depends on your financial situation and how bad you need this drive. |
