Many of you know this already, but the monitor is only expensive because it is great for photo and video editing.
If you do not need it for that, you might consider passing on this deal, unless you can sell the monitor for $400 to someone. I have the monitor, and it is really great, but a less expensive monitor would do for most people. Its not that great for gaming, since it is ips and a little slow. And its CCFL, not LED backlit, etc. Regards,

These units are flawed with Windows 8. Got my XPS 8500 Special Edition back in late December. Booted perfectly into Windows activation. Super fast and quiet machine!!! After restart, booted into a Dell logo and nothing else. After 4 hrs with support. Return it back to them and got a new replacement in early January. The replacement was no better. Called support again only to find out there's a known error with these systems and Windows 8 regarding RAID option. After 2 hours on the phone switching between different BIOS setting the determination was Windows 8 has to be reloaded by me. Now, it's working perfectly. Good luck!!!

I do not use the computer for gaming
but I got a nice off lease quad core from dell business for 300 tax and shippingDell Precision WST3400,Core 2 Quad (Q9300) 2.50 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 275 GB HDD, DVDRW, Nvidia Quadro NVS290 (256 MB), 32-bit Windows Vista Business It was listed as a grede B and had a small small mark on the front and was exceptionally clean. In my opinion (even though the warranty was limited to 100 days) for 300 bucks I got a lot of machine. It wound up having a second 1 TB drive - not listed and I was able to get a code for the upgrade to Windows 8 for 15 bucks - (Just be sure you download the ISO image on a 64 bit operating system - not on the 32 bit Vista you get with the off lease work stations) The only thing is you have to search for discount codes and continually check the stock. http://www.dfsdirectsa Prices also vary from day to day as well as discount codes. |

I ordered, called, canceled the monitor and reordered monitor with same representative at 449 for a total of 900 + tax. Don't forget free dell advantage loyalty program for 5% ecard and free 2nd day shipping.
