Posted elsewhere on this forum. Not sure why its not getting any love.. so I thought of reposting it. I think its pretty slick. Just the monitor is worth $400-$450

Many of you know this already, but the monitor is only expensive because it is great for photo and video editing.

If you do not need it for that, you might consider passing on this deal, unless you can sell the monitor for $400 to someone.

I have the monitor, and it is really great, but a less expensive monitor would do for most people. Its not that great for gaming, since it is ips and a little slow. And its CCFL, not LED backlit, etc.

What are the specs on the power supply?

460 watts, and able to deliver 225 watts (according to dell forums and a dell rep that I've talked to) for the graphics card alone.

With $350 IPS koreans being superior in every respect
Are you really that ignorant? Wow. Apparently your definition of "every respect" doesn't include the stand, the inputs, the longetivity, the warranty support, etc...

Three-year advance exchange warranty when I bought mine 3 years ago. They replaced mine overnight due to the green/pink tinting issues seen in earlier revisions. Love my monitor for photography and design. I swapped out my stand for an arm though.

These units are flawed with Windows 8. Got my XPS 8500 Special Edition back in late December. Booted perfectly into Windows activation. Super fast and quiet machine!!! After restart, booted into a Dell logo and nothing else. After 4 hrs with support. Return it back to them and got a new replacement in early January. The replacement was no better. Called support again only to find out there's a known error with these systems and Windows 8 regarding RAID option. After 2 hours on the phone switching between different BIOS setting the determination was Windows 8 has to be reloaded by me. Now, it's working perfectly. Good luck!!!

I don't think the GTX 680 will fit nor will it run with the current power supply.

I'm not sure about the GTX 670 :'(. I THINK you could squeeze it in.
I fit a GTX 580 in an XPS 8300. The XPS 8500 uses the same case. The GTX 580 is the same dimensions as the GTX 680 so a GTX 680 and below will fit. I did have to swap out the power supply.

For what its worth, there are VERY few people who agree that the 2410 is a $400 monitor. With $350 IPS koreans being superior in every respect, I see more 2410s and 2411s on craigslist than I can count.
The korean monitors have superior stands and come with the colors calibrated?

What's the power source on this?

definitely needs a SSD to take advantage of all the power and speed of this set up.

pretty silly opinion, if you ask me. in order to bottle neck that cpu with gaming you would need a $360+ gpu setup alone. there are people who do heavy cpu work without the need of anything above a low end/integrated gpu.
People do heavy cpu work with this kind of motherboard?

why not? its an 1155 socket. the chipset may be different, but it's not like it cripples the cpu. are you talking about overclocking?

but I got a nice off lease quad core from dell business for 300 tax and shipping

Dell Precision WST3400,Core 2 Quad (Q9300) 2.50 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 275 GB HDD, DVDRW, Nvidia Quadro NVS290 (256 MB), 32-bit Windows Vista Business
It was listed as a grede B and had a small small mark on the front and was exceptionally clean. In my opinion (even though the warranty was limited to 100 days) for 300 bucks I got a lot of machine.

It wound up having a second 1 TB drive - not listed and I was able to get a code for the upgrade to Windows 8 for 15 bucks - (Just be sure you download the ISO image on a 64 bit operating system - not on the 32 bit Vista you get with the off lease work stations)

The only thing is you have to search for discount codes and continually check the stock.

Prices also vary from day to day as well as discount codes.

Personally I can't believe people are dropping $1k on something with a GT 640. It's a crime o.O

You can build something similar for $800 with a GTX 660...
