I'm going to repeat what several other posters said -- with Obamacare in full swing insurances are required to cover either breast pumps or breast pump rentals. Definitely check with you insurance. I just got this pump for free
This went into effect in August but policies had until renewal time to cover. So most started as of January 1st.And if your insurance says no, call back and talk to someone else. It took me several calls. Make sure you specifically mention the law changes. It's only been in effect for most policies for 16 days so some agents don't know about it. After speaking to my insurance company they said I could get compensated for my purchase. They said that I am covered once every 36 months for the cost of a breast pump that is purchased within 60 days after birth. I would just have to submit a medical claim form along with the receipt (with a brief explanation of the purchase to help) and I would get a check in the mail as compensation.
Easy enough for me... No more need for notification of it being a required item. |

I agree, check with your insurance. With my policy, Dr had to write on the prescription that I intend to return to work as the reason for the breast pump.

BTW, if you're going to use the pump a LOT, I recommend ordering an extra face plate for the pump. Shouldn't be more than a few bucks. I pumped exclusively, and had to replace the face plate a few times -- smashes easily in the bag. |

Thank you and repped both of you guys, ordered will keep it sealed till April

You're welcome. I had to get a prescription with a diagnoses code, but since it doesn't have to be medically necessary the code is just what type of birth you had
![]() For anyone planning to buy and resell, I would keep in mind that insurance (in the US) is now required to cover breast pumps in one form or another (rental or purchase) and it does not have to be medically necessary. As more people find this out the resale value will go WAY down. Last edited by kgentry; 01-16-2013 at 05:40 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Regular one is sold out, but the backpack one is still available for the same price.
