i just called my insurance and they said it is covered 100% - but only if bought though approved vendor (not diaper.com)
so i called diaper and they were able to cancel my order... so, i would encourage u all to call yr insurance.. just in case...

Under Obamacare, most insurance companies are required to cover a pump. You might want to check with your insurance company before you buy.

But if you are going to buy one, I have this pump and it's excellent

I had my baby in April, and BCBS said I needed to have the doctor write a prescription, which she did at the hospital, and they sent a lactation consultant to my room with it, who also showed me how to use it.

I use this tote model daily, although I would rather have gotten the backpack version, because I hate over the shoulder bags that slide off. But it works great, and this is an amazing price.

I"ve never had to replace the face plate, but I do recommend checking under it regularly for mold. I've never had that, but I've read articles about it being an issue.

Cheapest set of spares, and I really recommend spare parts for tired working mamas who may not always want to wash the parts every night. They are fine for top shelf dishwashers too. Plus, the extra bottles are sooo nice. I ended up getting 2 sets of those.

And if you are looking for bags, I pour into the Lansinoh and Up and Up Target bags, because they are the best for freezing because they lay flat. Medela's bags suck because they take up way more freezer space since they are bottom heavy.

Oh, and for new pumping mamas, stick your parts in a ziploc bag in the fridge at work to save on having to wash between pumps

IMHO Honeysuckle bags are even better than Lansinoh and cheaper at 300 for $45!

YES first check with your insurance. Mine (Blue Cross Blue Shield) pays 100% and is NOT subject to deductible once the new plan year from employer starts. I think these are supposed to covered 100% for all women under the new health care laws but it is tied to the renewal of your policy. I have to wait until after March 1 to get mine. I also know it has to come from a covered durable medical equipment provider like Airway Oxygen (here in Michigan) and with a written prescription from your doctor.

Thanks! My insurance doesn't renew until April and I'm having a baby end of this month.. cost of this pump is what it would have cost me to rent one until insurance covered one.
