My insurance requires you to go through an approved medical supply company so I would call and ask what they require.

Oh, and if you're a big producer of milk, consider donating. Lots of NICUs will take it, and some programs will actually reimburse you for your breast pump ![]() Agreed on calling the insurance company first. Last edited by Aerienne; 01-16-2013 at 07:15 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Gotcha. I've never tried up and up, just the lansinoh. I'm on my second set of 300 honeysuckle bags and haven't had a single one leak.

we asked the doctor when in labor, she said it's OK to get one via insurance.. it was not until we were in the postpartum room that the guy actually delivered the pump to us. we didn't pay upfront but did get a bill 1 month later, which is appox. 10% of the pump's retail price

I contacted my health insurance company (Blue Cross & Blue Shield) and they said that they would only cover a MANUAL breast pump. This will effectively make them in compliance with Obamacare/ACA, but result in not having to cover many claims because a manual pump is so cumbersome.
Has anyone with Blue Cross & Blue Shield heard differently? Rep for your insight. Otherwise, are there any Amish slickdealers that would like a gratis MANUAL breast pump care of my greedy insurance company? |

I'm on a birth board and several people have gotten them covered through BCBS but I think your policy is dependent on your employer. Mine fell under durable medical equipment which is covered 100% with my policy.

Just go to BCBS and use find provider tool. Enter your zip and check "Medical Suppliers", it will show a list according to your area and insurance type. Collect the Medical supplier list and choose the appropriate ones (ie leave out the prosthetics suppliers). Call the suppliers and give your insurance detail and ask for a breast pump. This route was more helpful for me than calling BCBS! HTH! |
