Still the truth!

And this is a GREAT deal for what it is. I wouldn't use it as my main tv, but for a bedroom tv, it's more than good enough.

I recently got one. only 2 hdmi ports and 1 composite/component, you can only use one at a time, inputs. It does have a usb that can play videos files as long as its not avi format lol. I wish the black levels were better as I can see the led back light shine through when playing games. The 3d glasses you get for free at the theaters work perfectly fine and feel better then the cheapos lg throws in for free. Be aware this is not an LED tv. it is 3inch thick. It is an LCD with and LED backlight that controls the brightness.
LED TV => LED backlit or edge lit wave

Thanks OP, repped. Seems like a solid bed room TV. Found a translated review. Seems like it can handle mkv's off of a USB drive

What exactly do you think an led tv is?

Is there anyone who price matches Fry's? Want to use PayPal instead of CC.
Sears does if you have one local in stock.

well someone mentioned an oled tv on the first page as a joke. oled is something used in a lot of samsung phones, where the short story is that each pixel is independently lit up. so black colors are even darker since those pixels aren't lit up..whereas in a edgelit/backlit led panel, every pixel is lit up, including the black ones.

If this was a 55 inch oled tv, I'll be all over it.
If this was a super model I'd be all over it....

I personally dont find the 3d effects on this tv mindblowing like on other sets I have used, but those were active 3d tv. Make sure you mount this tv high enough to where the viewer is eye level with the center of the screen or else you will see crosstalk-ghosting of images in 3D. Also dual play is horrible. I have tried every position possible to get it so you cant see the other players screen on COD and other games but it doesnt work.
and its an 42" LG for $399
so..really for $399...should there be a really high expectation?

Its 60hz..however it been proven that even though LG labels many of their sets 120hz..its actually a 60hz panel with a scanning backlight ..and therefore simulated 120hz

As for 3D...its only 540p
to my eyes its looks softer and jagged on the edges vs active 3D
The glasses are cheap and its great for kids
But..really ..if you are discriminating buyer who looks at details are you really looking at a $399 TV of this size...to that end are you really looking for an LG TV

or....are you better served at the Samsung or Panasonic display areas?
granted..more money

But still...you really kinda get what you pay for

Thanks for that post. I was about to grab one on impulse until I read what you wrote. I think I'm just going to wait for a solid deal on a 55" 3d I have an 11 year old 46" Sony rear projection 1080 taking up a ton of real estate in my living room. It has a great picture and just won't die. I want something ill be happy with.

This I'd passive, not active, so it's real... Plus all source material is 60hz unless it's a computer.
with a Bluray drive on a computer can you get 3D on this set?
