It looks nice, and it zips into the columbia shell I already have, however I was a bit disconcerted that all of the reviews on columbia's site say that it is only good for down to ~35.
Maybe with the shell it's more? It's in the mid 20s here in Michigan, and my shell with fleece inside is holding up, but some days its still not enough. I'm new to cold weather, so I'm still trying to figure out what works. |

I have this jacket and I would agree it is good down to 30 or 35. With a shell probably 15 or 20s. It is definitely not a jacket for zero or subzero temps but its very nice indeed. I like Columbia's stuff for a cheaper (usually) alternative to TNF.
I'm 6', 200 lbs and built solidly and the large fits just fine. I'd say they run slightly snugger but that's more for fashion than anything else. If you usually wear a medium jacket then a medium should work but it will be slightly tighter than you're used to. Just my 2 cents. |

Also, I ordered this in Large. Since it should be similar/compatible with my existing columbia shell, which is also a large, I assume that it should fit fine. For reference, I recently bought a North Face fleece+shell in Large, and it fits fine, and last year ordered a Under Armor cold-weather jacket in Medium and it fits great, so hopefully that helps someone.

A review from amazon "The idea of both omni heat and shield in one jacket is awesome. However, the fit in large size is weird in this jacket. The core is slim fit but the arms are ridiculously wide and long. It makes me look very sloppy. I don't have short arms but the sleeves are way too long and baggy. There's no velcro on the sleeves so it is very annoying that it's long and baggy. I'm 5'9 and weigh 178lbs....The jacket idea is great but the fit is disappointing..The fit is way different from jackets from previous years. The model in the pic probably wears a small or medium (I'm 95% sure it's a medium)."
From the pic. the sleeves look baggy !http://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Me...roduct_img |

If you want a real comparison on heated clothing look up motorcycle gear since that's the source of heated garment technology. Everything is complicated when you first look at it. Complicated things always break down into simplier parts. Simple things are easy to fix when you understand how stuff works. The trick is remembering how everything works.
