Bosch Ascenta 24" Built-in Dishwasher for $410 + pickup at Sears

Thanks for posting OP, I think I'll be ordering this in Stainless Steel (to match the other appliances in our house) for an extra $90 (sadly).

The coupon and discount both apply the the SS model ( ) as well, making it $494.95 before tax/shipping (free if pick up in store).

This model includes a stainless steel tub which is excellent (avoids stains and smells) but not a hard food disposal (only on substantially more pricey models).

The reviews are quite mixed, though it's a popular model as it got a great review from Consumer Reports (81/100).

It isn't a full stainless tub. The bottom is plastic.

I guess my kids could learn as much sitting in front of the dishwasher and watching it as they do sitting in front of the TV and watching that. So, I can kinda see how EDUCATION fits.

is this one of the quiet ones? i think most Bosch are....the crappy dish washer that came with my grand homes house is too noisy and crappy...maybe I need this

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from. The descriptions says "hybrid". I had a Bosch and I loved it. The interior is metal but the center "grate" was partially plastic, but mostly metal. If you look at the pictures close up, you will see the majority if the bottom is metal. It is just the part around the spinny water thing which is plastic.

Now I don't have this model but it's interior looks very similar to mine.

I do not see a heating element. Again, from the model I owned, there is no "heated drying element". Bosch uses a system where it super heats the water and the water wicks away from the dishes onto the sides of the interior to dry. This is why the drying time is much longer than ones with a heated drying element and it's important not to open the door until it's totally done. One advantage is your plastics tend not to melt and deform.

Once you understand how it works and follow the recommendations, it is a wonderful dishwasher and super, super quiet. You won't even realize that it is on, it is that quiet.

I cannot wait until I remodel my current kitchen and get rid of this GE profile piece of garbage that doesn't clean dishes and get another Bosch. It's worth the money. HTH
