There isn't much of a difference on the depositor's end between savings and MMA deposit. On the bank's end, the bank is allowed more options to invest your money when it is in a MMA - thus, rates/benefits are usually higher to make an MMA more lucrative. Both are FDIC Insured, so again, there isn't much of a difference to the depositor.
