Hey guys, this laptop has finally gone back down in price! It was $549 on blackfriday, but you wont find that for a while, especially for a 17.3 inch with a 2GB dedicated GT635M! It will push hi-rez easy!

lenovo IdeaPad G780 (59347664) Notebook Intel Core i5 3210M(2.50GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD DVD±R/RW NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M [newegg.com]

Price: $599

4GB Memory 500GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M
Windows 8
DVD±R/RW
1600x900 pixels

The only down side I see is the 4GB of RAM, but anyone with smarts would usually upgrade the RAM anyways.

Happy shopping! - Please ADD Repz if you like the deal or if you think I'm hot or whatever..

555M > 635M for gaming.
G780 Processor is faster and the 635m is a renamed 555m.

Is it? Really? How do you figure?

This deal is New. Yours is Manufacturer Refurbished.
This deal has a full 1 year warranty. Your has an unknown warranty (if any remaining).
This deal can be returned. Yours will require ownership papers and transfer before Lenovo will do anything for you.
This deal has a 17" monitor, your is a 15.6" monitor.

Not sure how this is the better deal.

I finished doing some research and the 555M does outperform the 635M by just a smidge so there is a difference than mere rebrand. However, would the average every day person be able to tell the difference? Nope.

Also Lenovo have the rights to revoke that warranty because it was not sold by a supported retailer. You give them an ebay receipt they can just laugh you off your phone.

Solid laptop (I feel silly calling a 17" a laptop) but it was $480 right before black friday. I can't find anything on the product page that lists the resolution. 1600x900 is a must for this size screen. This is no deal if it's for the "standard" 768p screens that are quite common. Also, the hard drive is smaller in this config, 500 vs 750 GB.

Ultimately even spec'd out, I found the 635 not quite competent enough for modern games. Moved up the y580 during the $900 deal they had over Christmas.

After some digging I finally found the detailed specs [lenovo.com] on this machine, along with the hardware manual.

Pretty sleek imho

Could you elaborate on the resolution comment? Do you mean 900p is too low or something else?

Got this for $480 during lenovo outlet sale. I bought this for a relative but it has major problems with the screen blackout and the computer being completely unresponsive. It's currently in for repair so hopefully they could diagnose what's wrong with it.

Did lenovo support give you a hard time before sending it in?

LOL....
He maybe the seller at Ebay...
Seriously, Ebay vs. Newegg, Refurbish vs. New, 15.6" vs. 17.3". $579 vs. $599

I definitely pay $20 more for the new laptop, the bigger screen, and the reliable seller.
