Hideous doesn't even begin to describe these boots. If I need another pair of extreme cold weather boots, I will get a new pair of Sorel, or consider LL Bean and even Baffin before this. Uggs might keep you warm in a lot of circusmstances, but are useless in extreme cold or wet/snowy conditions. My Fiance has a few pairs of uggs, but wont wear them near snow.
Baffin makes a good boot. Also try Ice King by Lacrosse!

I think that is standard to accommodate wool socks that Canadians traditionally wear in winter.

You can't really see them in this picture [thefivecount.com], but they are there.

So with most of them having zippers... are any of them waterproof? It seems silly to have a winter boot that isn't waterproof, but maybe that's just me.

I bought my wife a pair of the Quebec boots, she's always complaining that her boots dont provide alot of " traction " in snowy / icy environments. Hopefully these are better. If not, they can always be sent back .

An Amazon review reads...
A great boot! It took a few days to break in but overall it looks and feels great. Perfect for festivals. Easy to clean. Love the sturdy soles for tougher terrain/mountain town and weather Smilie

Perfect for festivals?????? WTH does that mean? ROFL!

Given that these seem to only be available at Amazon, I wouldn't trust the list price so much.

I agree with previous posters who tried judging style and quality of these boots by the picture. I have the same doubts.

Edit: maybe these might be a perfect boot for hiking in the snow (so the style won't matter), but that would mean limited use.

No, those MSRPs are correct [fashionmagazine.com]. The reason is that they are well made in Canada (vs. China) with high quality leather and insulating materials. They are a much better value than UGGs, which are way over priced.

Depending on the model, some are rated to -40 or lower. Remember, these are designed for the Canadian winters, so you should be good.

I don't get the folks saying they are ugly. A couple of styles aren't the best, but some are great. They are all listed as having genuine Shearling linings (like Uggs) and are all leather. Find me any manufacturer making an all leather boot with a genuine sheerling lining, then complain.

An Uggs equivalent would be north of $200. Sizing stinks though. Loved a couple of the styles but none in my size. Would have bought without hesitation if they had those.

Red Wings are ugly. Most Uggs are Ugg-ly. These certainly aren't any worse. But I do have a pair of Uggs that have lasted me 6 years and still look almost new and they take a beating.

I wonder if those were made in Australia. I think UGGs have gone downhill since they were bought out by Deckers Outdoor Corporation and production moved to China. The exception being UGG Collection, which are made in Italy and cost $600 to $900 per pair.

the only one rated for sub zero degree so i got it, hope it fits. just bought: 'Brodie Men's Jackson Boot,Black Full Grain

Brodie revolutionizes your cold weather footwear with the Jackson boot. The handsome leather upper is nicely water resistant while the twin-faced shearling lining keeps you comfortable thanks to its sub-zero temperature rating.
