Just called to get the package deal I placed on 01/16/13 (XPS 8500 / U2410) changed to this price for the monitor order number.
The rep took care of it without any push back. |

Dont forget about signing up for the dell advantage program guys. U get 5% back via e-gift card 10-14 days after purchase. I did not see the Dell Advantage icon when checking out so i went ahead and chat with Dell rep and got them to place the order with the 5% e-gift card.
I know that the u2413 might be out in a few months but heck it'll prob be some rediculous price so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'm a happy camper. |

Mine arrived today. Fresh out of the box, I'm not very impressed. I'm coming from a 24" Samsung Syncmaster 245BW that's probably 5 years old and cost about $500 at the time. It uses a TN panel. I had high expectations from the Dell.
The major flaw is the apparent lack of grayscale uniformity across the screen. The middle third is a much warmer color temperature than the outer thirds. This is not a measured observation, just a casual visual one I make when viewing mostly-white web pages. I'm not sure if I should request a replacement at this time. Maybe it will get better as it gets a few more hours on it? Maybe my eyes will adjust? I realize this is not a $20K professional monitor, but I was just thinking that a color temperature variations shouldn't be so obvious on just normal web pages. |

i have been using this for the last 30 days or so. I dont understand why its priced so high? the text is not sharp and colors are not soothing to eye. I am using adobe settings. the most important i like is the form factor. Lot content can be seen due to its 16:10 ration. And of course more connections whether you use them or not. I just kept it.

Well, I ended up requesting a replacement for my original monitor with the poor grayscale. The replacement that came was definitely a refurb, which kinda stinks because I paid for a brand new monitor that was essentially bad-out-of-the-box, and now I have a refurb :-(
The refurb is slightly better in regards to grayscale. I am using sRGB. I have not had time to do a full calibration. For viewing webpages or other content on a mostly white screen, I'd still say the uniformity and viewing angles is not great. I guess I just had higher expectations? |

Anyhow, to my knowledge, they are suppose to replace with new on first 30 days. not refurb. call CSR and bitch about it and get some discount out of it for wasting your time. |

I guess I'm just as disappointed that the U2410 is not noticeably different/better than the Samsung Syncmaster 245BW I had been using for so long. Maybe I need to experiment with calibrating the Custom Color preset a bit more. EDIT: actually, I think it's going to be OK. I have both a PC and a Mac hooked up to it, and remembered I'd set it up for Mac gamma. So using the PC it doesn't look great. I need to see if I can set up the profile for each input source. And I need to bust out the calibration disc and meter. sRGB doesn't look so great to me. Custom color, with the defaults looks decent. Last edited by SamS; 02-12-2013 at 03:11 PM.. |
