Official Nexus 7 Dock $31 with FS

Yes, you have to remove any case before it will connect and charge. If you can wait, this dock should be available from most resellers over the next week.

This thing sucks. It's basically a $30 charger you can probably only use if you don't have a case on your 7.

No go for me due to having a full case.

If it had video out or was a lot cheaper I might be pursuaded to forgo the case but this just isn't compelling enough for me.

I'm superdown for a charging solution that doesnt involve continually plugging and unplugging the micro USB. For how much I use this thing daily, it's nice to have just a drop-in charging solution.

I suspect this dock won't work for me as I have a case on my Nexus 7.
There's a bracket that wraps around the corner which would mean the contacts may not touch (due to the gap create by the bracket).

When I think of how much goes into the Nexus 7, $200 seems pretty reasonable. When I think of how much goes into a dock, $30 seems like a joke.

IMHO, $30 is easily reasonable for an official solution, on par with or better than what our friends on the fruity side readily pay every day.

I would agree. My experience with these guys is that they claim to have stuff in stock when they really don't. They are not very good about updating you on delivery times either.

What's more of a joke? The fact that it's officially $40 ($30 here), or the fact that it took 7 months after the Nexus 7 to be released?

Update. Received an email for a $5 off coupon. Which brings us down to $26!

I was about to buy this piece of plastic a week ago for more than double the price. I don't think you'll see it for less than that any time soon. And for that price you guarantee your micro usb port a long and happy life and can set up a nifty media player without fussing with the cables!

For $25, woulda been better with video out ..
