I went to pre-order Dead Space 3 since I had a couple of MS Store gift cards but did not see any place to enter the gift card info during checkout. Chatted with an agent and he confirmed that gift cards are for in store use only. That's ridiculous! I wonder if it's possible to use them via a phone order?

EA has been doing that for a while. They used to call them "expansion packs"
BF1942 had (2) Expansions, Road to Rome & Secret Weapons
BFV wasnt out long enough for them to do a expansion
BF2 had Special Forces, Euro Forces & Armored Fury
BF2142 - I didnt play but it had Northern Strike or something or other.
BF3 - Well you know about those.

COD Does the same thing.

Its all about making the most amount of money they can. Companies used to give this stuff for free in updates when they cared about the customer. Now its just about the $$$.

In the past, from MS Store I got the promo codes about 3-5 days after it shipped (game arrived on release day with the free shipping).

Are you trying to use MStore coupons from last year's Xbox game preorders? I think those expired in December. Otherwise, I know there's a spot to enter the little 9 alphanumerical code during checkout.

Also I would not believe what those reps say. I had one tell me that the promo codes could not be used on preorders (later preordered an item and was able to successfully use the code) and also that they could not stack in the same order (later got them to stack).

So I think their reps, albeit friendly and earnest, are either idiots or completely in the dark about how their stuff works.
