Is there a reason to use Origin or can I just download the games to work standalone?

This is a good price, but I don't have enough faith in the Origin distribution platform. Last edited by Mixels; 01-18-2013 at 08:03 PM.. |

Just a note, input lag is pretty terrible due to VSYNC being turned on my default. So turn it off when you first start the game up. You can have VYSNC on turned on through your control panel/gfx card settings, but not in game. |

Guys and Gals,
Wish I had bought the STEAM versions of DeadSpace 1 & 2, but pricing was right so I jumped on the $7.99 GameFly bundle. Once the Gamefly DeadSpace 1 & 2 bundle is purchased you are able to view the key codes. Gamefly wants you to install the GameFly client, which I assume downloads the install files/ game installer. From what I've read the client being another Steam/Origin want-to-be. As I don't "rent" games/purchase alot thru GameSpy - I see no need to install yet another "client", I would prefer to add the games via Origin, or possibly on "GameFly" AND Origin. Concerns: DeadSpace 1 page on Gamefly mentions Sony SecureRom, as a rule I don't like ANY types of apps which may conflict with /restrict access so I don't want SecureRom on my system. (If I own the "disc" I don't want to have the disc in the drive, and want to be able to run the game entirely off the hard-drive.) Q1: Will downloading /installing thru the GameFly or Origin clients add DRM / SecureRom that will mess with apps in which you "mount" older cd games? (Sorry for not mentioning the name of the CD mounting app, game PC is down right now - Just know alot of "games" will screw-up such apps.) Q2: I think I've read DeadSpace 1 & and I know DeadSpace 2 if purchased via STEAM, can be registered thru Origin, while retaining the game in your STEAM games list as well. If downloaded/installed thru the GameFly client, can you register the game(s) with Origin as well? (Purpose? Company A may update in a more timely manner, One may be "up", accessible- the other having technical difficulties.... Think of the expression, "Don't invest all your money in one company. Never put all your eggs in one basket" ) Q3: I would assume with the key code, games can be downloaded directly from Origin? Q4: What type of DRM does Origin use? (Have STEAM, Have read alot of bad stuff about Origin.) . |
