Bad deal. It should be $59 to even be worthwhile. A N7 is literally more bang for your buck despite paying more.
This device will be a paperweight within 1 year after the active developers on XDA has moved on to greater and better things whereas the N7 will remain relevant for a minimum of 2 years. Upfront cost of the N Tablet may appear cheaper at $99.99, but if you're just going to throw it aside or "justify" yourself malarkey by later giving it to your kids/cousin/sister/brother/mother/father, etc, just to buy another $99.99 tablet after a year, then it is debatable if you're truly saving any money. |

this is a great tablet for this price. sure you can some chinese tabs with more features but good luck sending it back if it dies. |

![]() I don't need the extra bang for the buck, or the extra $100+ thats associated with getting it. I have a phone. I don't know ANYONE with a tablet, but without a smart phone unless the tablet IS their phone. My phone does everything the n7 does that the NT doesn't. All the apps I run appear similar in performance when used on an NT and another tablet with the same SOC as the n7. Hence, I have no need for the extra bang for the buck.
And I was just going to give one of the neighborhood kids my 2 year old chinatab. Guess he'll have to do without. |

May be worth calling Discover Card to confirm your card offers the same extended warranty coverage. This does look like a dang good price, and my refurbished Nook Color cam in original B&N package, too! TU! |

Keep the Nexus 7. If you know how to root android tablets, I won't go into reason why you should. In a year or so, you'll be glad you paid the extra $50 for the Nexus.

Is the Nexus better? Yes, but not 2+ times better. |

As someone who owns and s3, I don't really need all of the features a full fledged tablet might offer. I'm really looking for an ereader with tablet capabilities. Plus if I were going to get a real tablet I wouldn't get a n7. While it is a nice device there is no sd slot and the specs on my phone are already better. That being said this is really tempting.

-- I have never seen the Nook Tablet's screen. I have seen the Nook Color's screen. If my Nook Color would power back up I would gladly do another side by side. Last check though the Nexus 7 was much better. Now the NC/NT screens are great for their resolution. My only point was refuting the argument that everything that N7 has the NT also has. On screen resolution that is not true. And while you can play media that is in a higher resolution, the media is downsampled to the max amount allowed by the screen. I'd venture to say (without being able to prove it) that a 720 clip played back on the N7 would be superior to the same clip being played back on the NT. -- The N7 cannot match the Nook Tablet when it comes to capacity. That's a huge plus for the Nook Tablet and the absolute biggest problem with the N7. That said, I stream everything so the capacity issue isn't a big deal for me but it is a deal breaker for others. -- I never suggested the Nook HD was a bad choice. I've never owned one so I can't comment on it's value relative to the N7. Having owned 7" and 10" tablets I'm pretty married to the 7" form factor since it is the most portable and I use my tablet for reading more than anything else. -- At the end of the day I don't think we are far apart. We might have legitimate differences of opinion on different aspects of the device. That's normal. Not every review site agrees with each other. My overarching point was that (1) a Nook Tablet will not deliver the same experience as a Nexus 7 and (2) IMO you are better off spending an extra $50 to get those additional features. As I stated before, I think B&N did a great thing with the introduction of the Nook Color/Tablet. If the N7 wasn't sitting out there I would whole heartily endorse this purchase. As is, I just happen to think that the N7 represents a better value purchase for the price conscience consumer.
As for the things you don't miss ... great. I was not suggesting that a tablet had to have those features. An earlier poster stated that the Nook Tablet could do everything a N7 could do. I simply pointed out a handful of things that refute that statement. Whether they mean something to you or not isn't the point. There are a lot of people who read these forums without understanding the technical details. When someone says that "x" can do everything that "y" can do I think it is valuable to point of out the truth. I wouldn't want a community member going out and buying a Nook Tablet assuming that it can do everything their buddies N7 (or other tablets) can do. Aside from that though I find your argument funny. If you have a phone for GPS/Skype/BT, etc then why would you need a Nook Tablet? Wouldn't it also be true that EVERYTHING that the Nook Tablet has to offer can be accomplished with any current Android smartphone? You choose a tablet because it's a better form factor for the task. I'd argue that using Skype or Navigation on a 7" tablet is a superior experience than using it on your phone. That could easily be justification for many to spend a few extra bucks to get a N7.
