quick question
|
|
|
The 840 Pros are the only way to go, dont waste your money on the basic 840. Also, for anyone that missed this weeks deals on the 840 Pro 256mb which was going for $210-$220 B&H still has them on sale for $220 an sorry I haven't made a post for thist, I'm too lazy.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pro...D_840.html You have to add it to cart in order to see $220 |
|
Let me know when the Pro version are this price and we have a deal.

uhh, this is a brand new drive an the cheapest it has hit is $210 an then either sells out or the sale price doesn't last long. Your prob getting your models mixed up an you will have to wait 8 months for the Pro version to hit the same price as the standard 840, dip.
An who said I waited an bought them at $220. Last edited by socialdis; 01-18-2013 at 11:02 AM.. |

Or you could do a clean install on the SSD and just go from there. |

Because of Tom's Hardware's recommendation [tomshardware.com], I bought this drive (my first SSD) for a core i5 system that had a 1 TB WD Caviar Black about two weeks ago. Been running great, and boy is it fast!
Two thoughts: 1) There are a some people in this thread saying there are faster/better drives who are serious SSD enthusiasts or wanting to use the drive in enterprise situations. For the average consumer, this drive is such an improvement (which is why Tom's Hardware recommends it, and also lists it as a tier 2 drive [tomshardware.com]). 2) Comes with a SATA USB connector. I didn't use it for the Samsung 840 install, but then I caught the SSD upgrade bug and got at Kingston HyperX 3K for my laptop, and ended up needing it for that. Handy to have. |

Just a question, will there be NOTICEABLE difference between the Crucial M4 MSATA 256gb and Samsung 256gb 840 PRO?
Kind of want the M4 Msata for reliability and it's already connected to the motherboard via 6 gb/s. -- Yes I do realize that this question is a bit off topic, but love to hear some techies advise. |

I got my 840 250GB from Tigerdirect for $189 - $40rebate - $30FarCry3 = $120.
That being said it has been as fast and reliable as the 830 128GB it replaced and WEI disk index actually went up. 7 year shelf life? Even if it last 7 years, by then a 910 2TB will probably cost the same price! |

Samsung marketing just created from thin air the new name, inflated the price double the 830's, and now is selling something that is worth at most $70-80 /like the BS old generation OCZ drives/ on a "deal" at $150...It is still a BS drive, that I will not use at all, but some people may take the risk. However, the risk is definitely not worth $150 today. |
