There's no warranty seal, it takes a heavy gauge paperclip or awl to the holes in the back which pop the clips in a tad then you pull up, then slowly work around the case and it pops open.
Once it's open you remove two screws that hold the controller board and then pop the drive out (and remove the screws holding the controller to the drive).
Takes about 2 minutes to do. Just don't force anything and it goes smoothly. You can snap it all back together and reuse the case with another drive or keep it in case the drive fails.
thanks a bunch for the information. thinking about getting this deal, taking the drive out and using it in a different enclosure that has firewire port because I'm still working on a 2008 MacBook Pro that doesn't have USB 3.0 (has Firewire 800, a bit faster than USB 2.0). Sole use is for backup and extra space, so would probably make it 2 partitions using one for super duper for a bootable copy of my main drive and the other partition for time machine backups.
$86.99 is the total for me. wondering if there'll be any better deals over this weekend or not.
