Your point has some validity, although if your asking, let's ask, does "anyone really need" a 65 in. TV? Probably not, what your arguing is actually want versus need.

I have a 10 year old Sony HDTV with the old, old, old CRT technology. When I look at today's TV's the LED's don't come close to the PQ I still get from this relic, even the plasma's have a hard time, at least those in my price range, plus all the new problems that arise, IR, viewing angles, judder, cross-talk, just to name a few. I know one thing if CRT was still available, that would be my first choice, hands down. I'll put up with the weight on these things since after it's in the door, it really isn't gonna move.

My response was actually intended for intence01, more than you and looking at it only from a financial outlay. If he "is" indeed going to purchase the above product then he should jump now and be thankful for the $800.00 swing his way in actual cost, instead of playing the waiting game IMO.

Can anyone living on the East coast share their experience with the shipping company (Home Direct USA) Paul's TV uses? I placed the order for this p65vt50 TV on Jan 13. According to the shipping company's website, it was picked up from Irvine CA on Jan 14 with anticipated delivery of Jan 30. There has not been any update since then. There is a lot of bad stuff written about the shipping company on the internet. I am little worried now.

Had excellent service from them near Dayton, OH. No update until they call a day or two before delivery. They ship to a local delivery company and that company delivers to the house.
Don't forget to have them put the stand cover on before attaching the stand to the TV. They forgot on mine and came back out the next day to redo with no problems.
Bottom line - I guess it will depend on your local delivery personnel.

Interesting. I phoned in my order. Living in NY, they said they would try to ship from an east coast warehouse in RI or MA.

I ordered a Mits DLP from them in 2010, they used CEVA for my delivery, which is teh same company Amazon uses, flawless delivery all white glove. Overall a very positive experience with Pauls and CEVA. So I ordered a 65VT50 from them on the 18th, stil waiting for that to ship,,,did anyone's get shipped yet?

I ordered mine on 1/18. I just got the shipment notice w/ a working tracking number. Very excited!

Just wanted to add that my TV came in perfect condition. I'm very happy with the quality of the TV. I bet the people saying the Kuro is better must be pixel peeping or viewing side by side. All I know is it is much much better than my 2009 Sony LCD.
