absolutely nothing. i have a 120hz sony and turn that shit off cause it makes everything look like crap tbh. I've yet to notice the difference while watching sports but its DEFINITELY not for regular tv shows/movies.

i've been waiting the past 3 weeks and finally pulled the trigger. I was looking in the ~47" range <$500 and I figured, 50" is bigger than I wanted, yes only 60hz but the 60 to 120hz difference isn't as noticeable as 60 to 240hz and since I'm not in the price range for 240hz, trigger pulled. very happy to stop price watching

i am regretting returning mine to bestbuy. i could have it for 400.

since i bought two 178 tv from amazon, i decided to return it. that was a big mistake.

the 42" i got looks smaller and smaller everyday.

Purchased 2x of these TV's from best buy at this price this morning. One for me and one for a buddy. Should be picking one up after work and the other is being shipped to store next week. Not a bad deal for 50" led. Yes it was cheaper on BF but hey that has come and gone.

I got a 40" samsung LED that will be going to the bedroom and this will be going in the living room

I installed this TV for some older customers not long ago. Very nice. They don't have cable; they use a roof top antenna. The free HD channels and Blu rays looked Excellent. DVDs looked good. The SD channels looked like you would expect on a 50" TV; fair. They don't watch sports so the 60 hz thing didn't matter to them if you believe in that stuff anyway. Action movies looked awesome. No blur. They use home theater speakers all the time so I can't comment on the quality of the built in speakers, which is usually not the greatest in flat screens. But if you are getting a TV this big and watching movies on it, you really should get even a basic home theater receiver/speakers. Something like WOOT has today would be perfect as a budget system. A 50" name brand TV ($450), a 5.1 name brand surround system ($200), add a $60 Blu Ray player and 2 HDMI cables ($10) and you got a very nice basic system for just around $750. Perfect for the average non audiophile.

Anybody know the audio output situation on this model? Say if I wanted to get a sound bar in the future would I be able to connect it?

It's really a matter of preference. 120hz and higher tends to give off that "soap opera" motion blur to it that a lot of people don't like. The only way to really tell what's best for you is to go to the show room of any electronics store and compare them side by side for yourself.

This is not a bad deal if you're not a stickler for refresh rate >60hz. If you're wondering what the difference is, check out http://lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtv...-60hz.html. You're eyes might work differently from others, so the difference may be negligible for you. I'd say go into a store and compare the different refresh rates.

Do not confuse 120hz/240hz for TruMotion/motion smoothing that you'll find switched on on most TVs you'll find on display nowadays, i believe this is what people are thinking of when they say "soap opera" effect. That is a separate feature built into many tvs nowadays and can be switched on/off on most sets.

Exactly the same for me. I turned the 120Hz off on my parent's TV because it was so annoying and unnatural.

I myself have a panny plasma, and it's better than all the LCD/LED TVs I've seen
