Yep and Sharp 70inch was $1498 at BF Frys in 2011!!! It's time for 70inch TVs to get a reasonable price say $1200 range as 60inch has been at $699-$999 range.

Holding out hope for some crazy Target clearance on them. Seems like the new 70 inch budget models get released in February (according to the 2013 CES PR).

I bought this and returned it. It seemed like it was very stripped down in the menus and video games had slight motion blur.

No kidding, I'm looking for a 65", preferably 70" but having a hard time justifying paying double the price over a 60".

I have the perfect space for a 70" but prices need to fall down to reasonable levels. Way too much premium on these years-old models.

Bet prices will come down near SuperBowl.

Its not a simple linear relationship, you have to consider the cost to make a 70 vs 60 and the shear volume of 70" sets shipped vs 60" sets. Gen-10 glass handling plants are optimized for the 60-65" sets, so going to 70" makes them considerably more expensive to manufacture.

good price or not? I've seen this in store, and it's better than the vizio, so not liking that comparison.

That is true but we, the consumer, doesn't care about the cost. And with our pockets, we can dictate the price. The reason 70" + is still too high is because there are no competitions out there for Sharp. Samsung and Sony big screen TV prices are way too high. But with Vizio starting to come out with the 70" TV, I could see Sharp has to lower their price in the near future.

I have been looking everywhere for a 70 inch Sharp and this is lowest I could find. Was hoping there would be some available for like $1400. Its hard to justify paying double over a similar 60 inch set.

70"+ is not a consumer driven market at the moment. So voting with your wallet simply means you won't get a 70" LCD. It's not like Samsung or whoever has a team of people trying to figure out how to move 70" TVs when they're moving 60" TVs just fine. They will simply make a lot fewer 70" TVs and charge what they need to in order for it to be worth their time.

Hopefully consumers will start justifying larger TVs, but with 2k and 4k coming soon, it seems we will stick in our 40-60" comfort zone, and those wanting larger will continue paying a premium.
