Wasn't the earlier deal better? Around $12/month? I missed the last one and got hosting somewhere else.

At least it doesn't have the "bandwidth exceeded" sign that locks up your website that used to happen in the past. If it gets good traffic, maybe it's time to upgrade and go with some online advertising as well.

Why would you want to do that anyway?

I signed up during the last promotion to test it with Magento. They even have a script that installs and configures it for you. BUT, the PHP.ini settings dont meet the minimum execution time or memory settings for PHP. I asked them to change it and they refused, which is a first in all my years! Because of this, Magento locked up the host somehow and now it only spits out HTTP 500 errors. I asked them to reset Apache but it's still useless. This host is useless, slow, restrictive and just suck. But UNLIMITED space is always nice!!!

The unlimited hosting is for a limited time offer which states it under the shared hosting plan, also if you haven't used them before you shouldnt bash them.

I been with them for over a year and they offer one of the best support I have seen from any web hosting companies. And it just pisses me off to see people like you who never used them to bash their service. Go back to Hostgator and enjoy the terrible support!

I didn't bash them. It's true. All "Unlimited Shared Hosting Plans" are not unlimited. It's true of all hosts, Hostgator, GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc. Apparently you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Also, I don't have to go back to HostGator, I'm currently a customer. I don't frequently need support (I'm not clueless like you); however, when I do their live chat is great. Much better than any other host I've used.

I believe thats a cloud linux issue, have you tried asking them raise your server resource allocation?

Deal is good but not sure about the service. I was able to login to cpanel the first 15 minutes or so but it's been down since then. 9 hours later still down.

No, that can't be right. OP says their service is good and HostGator is terrible (even though my account was up in no more than 2 hours). /sarcasm

Try it out for a week, if it still sucks, get your money back and spend a little bit extra somewhere else.

When you go to the page did it say something about your IP being blocked? If you failed to login a few times it will block you from their firewalls. I had it unblocked by emailing them.

That page is loading for me.

I asked them to raise the PHP memory limit to 256MB and Max Execution Time to 360 seconds. Thats double what they provide on my top tier shared hosting plan. They refused to increase the limit.
So, when I tried to backup the site/database with the Magento admin panel, PHP probably faulted with a memory or execution time overrun. That crashed something on their end and they still have not got it back up.
I asked for SSH access to run it from there. They said I had to send in a government ID and $3 for them to allow SSH access!! These features have all been standard and free on the ultra cheap bottom tier shared hosts I usually use.
