Making money off a website

If you're so concerned with his success (assuming he cares what you think) then maybe try some positive reinforcement based on your experience on how he can make it success?

OP, you can create an LLC in your state easily and cheaply on their website. This will provide tax benefits (any money you put in to business expenses is tax deductible) and it will provide liability protection if someone sues the business.

While I'm not a lawyer nor CPA either, it is true that an LLC can provide him protection from personal liability for business related stuff. However, he will still get the same tax benefits from an LLC as he would as a sole proprietor.

I know what to eat to lose fat, and I've come up with a way to figure out someone's metabolism and tailor their diet to their weight/ body composition/ metabolism. Over 6 months I kept my weight almost the same and went from 25% body fat to under 5% with 2-3 hrs a week @ the gym & proper eating. I've had friends try it out with similar results. Only hard part is that I need to track approximate macro-nutrients to figure out everything, so everyone would have their own tailored diet

If you can invent a safe pill with no side effects that can get people is shape, sign me up as an investor.

I would suggest before and after pics of your clients. This is a must in the fitness industry. Good luck and I would beta test if you need some to try out the features. I have been into fitness for over 10 years (personally, not pro). I think for most people it is not the what or how that prevents them, it is having the power to stick with it.

It's almost on the market, actually. It's a pill that converts one type of fat ("bad fat") to another ("good fat") that promotes metabolism. So it's essentially an exercise pill.

I am looking to start a fitness website where people would pay to subscribe and my wife has been looking to get into blogging more and might try to make some money.

Do we need a business to legally do this? I'm wondering for tax & legal purposes.

You don't need a business but if you do bring in alot of money then the extra work to formally make it a business will be beneficial for tax purposes. Legally, I believe if something happens and you get sued, then only the assets of your business can be claimed instead of your personal assets.
