In my local area I have one chevron station that is minimum 5cents cheaper than the 76 or shell...but obviously not cheaper than costco.

I just filled up today at 3.39 for Premium/Supreme 92 oct. the price for regular(87) was 3.19
Shell across the street was 3.19 (87 oct), 3.42(92 oct)
Closest 76 station 3.27(87), 3.47(92)

So i guess it depends on where you are...chevron closest to me is always cheaper and it 1 block off the freeway.

surprised no one mentioned the penfed platinum card which gives u 5% at any gas station (which i have)

Great post, but the Fidelity visa gives you 2% cash back on everything.

i think its only for select member only. i sign up many times and doesnt look like its went through...

I use my Amex card and get 4% back on Gas, I think it is the platinum one, my other Amex is 3%. So why bother with Discover. I usually go to buy my fuel @ Costco and then it is even cheaper.

My Chase freedom has 5% back on gas this quarter (jan-march) which a lot of SD'ers seem to have based on chase freedom threads & Costco True Earnings business gives 4% (I think personal gives 3%) back on gas year round..

Based on the popularity of Costco coupon threads & Costco related deals, it seems like most Sd'ers have Costco membership & could apply for the Costco amex true earnings card. So 2% seem kind of meager to me for discover.

Gas prices are almost always set by corporate at big name stations such as Texaco and Chevron. Definitely a YMMV deal since many locally owned non-franchise stations might undercut everyone else in your area to boost sales of snacks and such inside the store (where they make their REAL profits!).

I use Chevron exclusively. Gotta love that Techron...but I already get 2% back on gas from my visa....

Yup. Card holders need to activate in order to get the 5%. Starbucks and drugstores are on the list for this quarter too.

My area has Shell cheaper by 5-7 cents. Agreed it's not a lot but this will break even for me.

How long do you have to wait to fill up a tank at your Costco? I have seen people wait like 10 min or so. Plus, the quality of Costco gas cannot be compared to Chevron or Shell. I tried it before and it burnt so fast. My car has no/less power when accelerated on the freeway.
